The tall grasses kept her hidden from any predators, and it kept her nicely shaded too.
Being a small exploratory animal of her second soul, she couldn't help but dig around in the dirt for items she could collect. She worked slowly but steadily, looking around here and there.
Over the years, Shaina grew to fear others. She became a coward, and there's probably no helping it. It wasn't the fact that her mother, Lianna, willingly gave her away to another, nor was it the fact that her father, Rawls, tried unsuccessfully rescuing her. It was who she was with. Being with the porcupine myou who took for granted her inability to defend herself as a pup truly scarred her. Not only did her hurt her physically, but also mentally; before it started, Archer was her best friend, and he betrayed that trust. The blow kept Shaina depressed constantly, but how could you blame her? It hasn't been long since she was able to escape and so she is always on the look out for him.
Finally her black rat nose pokes out of the dirt as she scoops the object in question onto the grass floor. She smiles as she cleans her prize with her tongue. Who knew rocks had value?

Lerta nervously looked around then suddenly broke out into a run. Something was chasing him, he could feel it. The tall grass scared him, feeling like something could attack him at any second. He then paused. What if it was his brother who Lerta so deeply hated to the very depths of his own soul. Throwing Lerta out of the pack might have not been good enough. No, he has come to finish him off from his very existence. He began to shake violently. His brother, the whole pack, they could be watching him from all sides. He began to run at full speed again.
The sun beat down on the porcupine myou's black back. The grass was not tall enough to give him complete shade. He could envision the black myou brother start to come out him. His brother lacked the white stripe that Lerta had that crossed from one shoulder to the next, but, Karson was different anyways. He was a black kangaroo myou like mother but he inherited the porcupine spikes from father. Lerta only had the porcupine spikes and look. Lerta heard something shift in the grass a few feet away. He laid down and curled up. "GO AWAY!" He shouted, trying not to sob like some pitiful child.

Shaina lowered her body to the ground. It was coming, very fast. Shaina couldn't breath. What if it was Archer? What if he had finally found her?
A voice echoed through her mind. Go away, it said. Shaina flinched and slowly looked up from hiding place. A male was lying there a few feet away, Shaina saw that he was a porcupine myou and yelped. She whirled and ran, as fast as she could.
She finally reached a new hiding spot: a tree log with a small entry way. She crawled in it and turned around to face her childhood captor. She took short breaths. She gazed around herself, searching for her lost prize. Then she spotted it, next to where the male was. Her maw gaped open as she realized she wouldn't be taking it home, and probably would never see home again.

Something moved quickly beside. He tensed himself, waiting for an attack from his brother. Moments passed and still nothing. He very slowly relaxed his mussels. First, he peaked up from beneath his paws, then lifted his head, then sat up, then eventually stood, still shaking with some fear. He was still on extremely high alert. His brother could still be here, he may just be playing with him or something. His nose peaked out from the grass, he sniffed. Then sniffed again. He then slowly went forward just enough so he could see.
He prepared himself to see the worst. The whole pack could have been back, or maybe just ghosts of some sort come to torment him for fun. But he only saw an object in front of him and then further out, a shadowed figure. He could only see a rat tail and some of a muzzle and paws. What if it was a giant rat? Maybe it had fallowed him and was extremely hungry. Or it was teaching its young to hunt and attack a wolf like him. Or just come to attack him and feed him to it's family.
He continued to shake. He was frozen to the spot. It may attack him at any moment. What would he do if it did? What if it were to go after his head first? Would he be able to move himself around fast enough so it would impale itself on his porcupine spikes? Or maybe it would go after his side, maybe to ram him. Would he have the strength to run or fight back? No, he would definitely have to run at full speed. So many things to run from. It hadn't tried to attack him yet. Maybe he can communicate, maybe talk it out of hurting him. "P-P-lease don't hurt me. A-A-re you g-g-going to hurt me?" He asked with his voice shaking.
