Sighing, she knew this was disrespectful. She already had a mentor. However she wanted to learn and she was going to learn. Charis was tired of feeling weak and helpless. Asides from that, it was good to learn different forms of attack, right? It would be a learning experience. If there was one thing she needed most, it was knowledge. She was a total klutz, completely helpless when under attack, and although she might start out strong at something, she soon tired. A feeling of desperateness came over her. The sun shone down, and the flowers were flowing in the breeze. Her wings lay clumsily on her back, and it was indeed very peaceful. Nobody seemed to be coming, growling under her breathe, she decided to start early. She got in the stance she had been taught previously, with weight balanced on all her paws. Her feet spread apart for greater steadiness, she slunk across the ground. Her feet barely lifting. Throwing her weight forward in a lunge, she pretended she was snapping the neck of an invisible foe. Next she tried remaining in balance while lunging. Jumping close to the ground, as not to suddenly get knocked out of the air. Continuing on in what looked like a childish display, but really each attack having a strategy behind it. Some were wrong, and she was unaware of because she was only fighting a invisible foe, yet she continued niot knowing this.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,465,true] | [bg=ffff00] Faye walked swiftly and with purpose, intent on finding herself a tasty jackalope for supper. Her bright yellow eyes that quite matched her lightning abilities scanned the horizon, noticing the bright poppies and other assorted wildflowers everywhere. She breathed in deep, filling herself with the scent of flowers as the bright sun beat on her white back. She wasn't hot, since her fur didn't absorb heat very well, so she usually kept a constant temperature.
Suddenly, the sage noticed the young Charis, a fellow alliance pack member. Faye was about to bark out a greeting when she noticed Charis seemed to be attacking someone, although Faye could not see who from her vantage point. Growling low, the Sage gracefully ran over to where she saw the butterfly wolf, her eyes narrowed as she looked everywhere for the unseen enemy. Stay calm! she ordered herself, you don't know the situation yet: It's best to ask first, then attack if necessary. However, she saw and smelled no one, and wondered what exactly the other wolf had been doing.
" Hello, Charis. Enjoying your day?" she asked politely. Faye sat down, her white body in contrast with the bright green of the grass, the blue of the sky and the red poppies. Her yellow eyes were speculative, but she hoped she had not interrupted her fellow pack member. Faye wasn't exactly sure what had been going on, but remained quiet so as not to intrude: The Sage knew some wolves could be a little more sensitive to questions, herself included. She waited patiently for an answer, deciding this was a good time to get to know one of her pack members, since the only one she had talked much with was Stone, and getting to know every wolf of her pack was crucial to her position.

When a wolf came into the meadow looking slightly panicked, Charis stumbled to the ground. Picking herself up quickly when the wolf started talking, she regained her composure. “Yes, my day has been very good, I’m trying to learn the best way to jump while attacking.” Charis eagerly exclaimed. As if to demonstrate, Charis leaned forward on her front legs. “Would it be better to lean forward, as to gain more impact.” She leaned on her back legs. “Lean backward, as for a better landing.” She steadied herself on all her legs. “Or just balance on all of them, as to be in better control.” However as she spoke, she seemed to be contemplating it herself. As if talking more to herself, than actually to Faye. “I came up with balance on all, then lean forward for better impact.” Snapping her attention back to the wolf in front of her, she added, “Oh, and how has your day been? Do anything interesting?” Charis said laying down, the sunshine beating down on her fur. She shaded herself with her wings, and her antenna twitched nervously. She bit back a comment, trying to make a good impression.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,465,true] | [bg=ffff00] The Sage watched the younger wolf, smiling: She quite liked Charis, with her up-beat personality and positive attitude. " My day has been quite good. I think you're doing an excellent job at learning to jump. I can't say I have a particular preference, I suppose it's different for each wolf..." she mused. Have I done anything interesting? she wondered to herself. Well, I guess it's time to have a little fun! she thought, suddenly grinning.
Faye was usually quite level-headed and calm, but once and a while, on sunny days like these, she felt more excited, and energetic. " I prefer to jump like this..." she said to Charis, as she backed farther away from her companion. Leaning back, she burst forward, sprinting faster and faster, a white blur, until she reached Charis and jumped high over her, careful to land a safe distance away since Faye knew some rocks or dirt might fly up.
She turned back to face Charis, trotting over to her and joining her, laying down by her side, a stark contrast between the two wolves, younger and older, black and white. Her parents stern voices entered her head for a moment: You're acting like a child! What will Charis think of you? However, Faye immediately blocked those thoughts out, still grinning at Charis, grateful for the chance her new pack member, and friend, had given her to act a little silly.

As the wolf told her some encouraging words. Charis grew more eager to prove herself to this great white wolf. Nodding as the wolf told her it was different for each wolf, then commenting “Yes, different wolfs different jumps, and I guess different situations different jumps also.” As the wolf grinned back at her, Charis’s smiled wider if that could be considered possible.
“I prefer to jump like this…” Faye said, backing away, Charis watched with utter astonishment as the wolf gracefully and with speed raced at her, only to leap over at the last second. “That’s amazing!” Charis said, admiring the new outlook she had at how to jump. “You use speed so that a wolf could barely react if jumped at, and would have to react just as fast or faster in order to defend themselves.” She observed.
She was nearly jumping with joy, her own feet eager to try it out. Backing away, “Watch this,” she said.
She sped off in front of Faye, her wings were open and provided her lift, allowing her feet to gracefully touch the ground and push herself off again. She jumped like Faye had before her, except for with no obstacle to jump over. Her foot at the last minute hit a rock, causing her to stumble and land in a heap. Her wings tangled around her, and her antenna hanging clumsily outward. However, if approached, one could hear her giggling softly to herself. Not at all dismayed at how things had turned out.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,465,true] | [bg=ffff00] The wise white wolf watched her younger companion do her own version of her previously executed jump, and she couldn't restrain a small chuckle at Charis's landing: She's delightful! Faye contentedly thought to herself. " Very good!" she praised the other wolf. Faye suddenly remembered her own first attempts at jumping, pouncing and other attacks: She had done just about the same thing for days, her pure white fur quickly turning to brown from the dirt of her clumsy landings. However, after a couple weeks of practice, Faye had certainly improved. And now, at seven years old, she had mastered the technique.
" I think you'll make an excellent fighter, or even huntress, whichever you chose." Faye thought for a moment, her yellow eyes curious as she asked her next question: " What role in the Alliance do you want when you get a little older, Charis?" She knew Charis was Magispar's apprentice, and wasn't sure if that meant Charis hoped to be a guide or not.

“Very good!” Charis heard Faye praise. Charis got up and shook the clumps of dirt from her fur, her wings clumsily and out of place on her side. She continued by saying how she would be wonderful at whatever she did. “What role in the Alliance do you want when you get a little older, Charis?” Faye questioned her, the white wolfs yellow eyes curious.
Charis laid her head down on her paws, she had often thought about that. It was for her a difficult question. She was eager to learn everything, and had no motivation for any title whatsoever. She wanted to better herself, and benefit her pack. However she didn’t want to stick to one thing, so a decision was hard.
“I think, I want to be an apprentice. I want to learn my whole life.” Charis reasoned with herself. Still being young, she couldn’t imagine what was beyond apprenticeship. All the choices to her seemed scary and overly confining. She had joined this pack for freedom, and wanted the freedom to do as she wanted. The pack had said that every wolf was equal, so did that mean every wolf could make rules?
Rolling over and playing with her antenna in the air, she began again “I think, that if every wolf here is equal, and that this place values freedom, that I should be equal and free.” She stopped for a moment, busy unknotting her antenna “Therefor, I think I shall be equal and free, and that is all.” She turned over and looked at Faye, determination shone in her eyes.
