The black form of the graceful dragoness curled up on her self but her neck remained errect with her head turned towards Rhia as she spoke. Listening to the wolf her eyes moved from the fem to the others in the clearing. She watched each, noting the different species comming together. Some of them she had never seen before and she would seek those out to talk to them about what they were. As her name was spoke she turned back to the she-wolf. She nodded her head to the leader before turning her attention back to the other wolves. But only a moment had passed before she was looking at the Alphess agian.
Spring tournament? That sounded like fun! She listened to the female, her eyes locking for a moment with her as she spoke. She nodded her head understanding what she was saying. Perhaps she could participate in this tournament. Not to gain rank of course but to help test the others abilities.
The female dragon rumbled a little bit, to speak but before she had finished another had captured the attention of the Alphess. So she stayed silent, lowering her head a bit and looking around her. She watched each and heard the term Yagi. So thats what those two were. She smiled in her dragonic way, her mouth opening enough that her teeth actual showed but it was just her smile. Now she could but face to name. She had heard of the Yagi and only seen a glance of one but not enough to really study them. Her wings folded along her back, wiggling slightly to get more comfortable.
Her eyes whirled with anticipation for meeting these wolves as well as for the tournament. Oh yes she would have fun. She smiled agian to herself before looking at those around her. "Hello." She said in their tongue, the word coming out with a thick accent. But fortunatly for Ardent she was getting better and the wolves would be able to understand her.

She took her place by the alphess side and gazed with cold eyes across the steadily growing meeting. The ground shook when a dragon landed near them, she stood only long enough to see that it was no threat. Rhia didn't seem phased, so that meant it was supposed to be there....right? The fragile female didn't like the prospect of dealing with a dragon, but as an ally she could see the gain in the monstrous beast.
Her ears twitched as her rank was increased. That made her give a pretty little smile across her velvety maw. She enjoyed being appreciated, though in the back of her mind another sennyo walked. That one she had met not too long ago....Gotham. For some reason she wanted to go tell him of her new rank. She pushed his image out of her head and noticed that many new wolves were trickling in.
"Seems we could have one large joining fight to determine ranks, Rhiannon."

Lyta's head shot up at the mention of the spring tournament. Yes! Finally! She jumped forwards, voice louder than she had expected it to be in her excitement. "I'd like to make a challenge at the Spring Tournament," she told Rhia, voice rising even as she spoke. She forced herself to stay calm and act with dignity, how the Styrrstdar Cadre expected its high ranked members to act. If she wanted a high rank she'd not only have to win the challenge, she'd need to earn Rhia's respect. She straightened her back, tail inching just higher up than the other subordinates'. "I'd like to challenge for the rank of Gamma," she stated, this time forcing her voice to be level, calm and confident. "I know I'm small, but I can promise you I won't let you down. I'm sure I can show you that skill will always triumph over size and strength." The red wolf's entire appearance was of relaxed confidence. She felt that very same way- Lyta was often an arrogant wolf, but now she knew that her rank would depend on a fight, and Lyta loved nothing better.

V E R E I N E
Vereine Talks
, Vereine Thinks , Dupre Thinks - - - - -
You really should get up now, Knoxie dear… The voice whispered in the back of the male’s head, causing a growl to erupt from the black mass. With eyes still closed, he shifted slightly, as if to find another comfortable sleeping position. The voice continued to whisper things, much too soft to understand yet loud enough to prove of its existence. I can tell something very important will be happening soon, you must get up it added, causing Vereine to mentally roll his eyes. Oh enough of your foreshadowing, Dupre. You’ve been the complete opposite of kind to me these past few nights, let me have my rest.
the wolf replied and started to stir again, still in search of that one true cozy spot. The cool rock pressed against his body prevented the heat from getting to him, the cave he momentarily resided in aiding in fending of the dry weather. It was not a large cave, no Vereine didn’t need much room at all. Just a small resting area was good for him. He had been wandering around the pack lands in search of something to do, nothing more than a simple stroll. Ears twitched as the sound of the alpha’s calling hit, causing Vereine to open an eye. He had just become a member of the pack and already a meeting. Oh, how he loved meetings, it was a brilliant way to work his charm and persuasion. It was quite perfect for practice, though he really did want to meet with the alpha. He needed to make a hell of a good impression; the thought of remaining a mere subordinate forever already pained him. Now only if he would get Dupre to behave… Amazingly, the second soul made no notion of the thought, remaining quite. Of course, nothing good stays forever, but the rarity was welcomed deeply by the young wolf so he decided not to question. Stretching and letting out a large yawn and a quick shake of his coat, he headed for the direction in which the call had come from. Surely it was within flying distance but Vereine was more of the ‘let’s just stick to solid ground’ than the ‘how about we jump up into pure nothingness and pray we don’t crash to our deaths’ type. He went at a steady pace, taking in the scenery of a land so new to him. He’d been through so many places within the short two years of his freedom, usually having to sneak from one pack territory to the next, but knowing that now, he didn’t have to worry about being caught and getting his throat ripped off was a new feeling to him, and it really wasn’t something he minded in the slightest. You’re getting too soft, Knoxie, remember with me around, they may just end up exiling you. Dupre’s sudden appearance didn’t faze the wolf being as it was a natural thing by now. How many times must I remind you not to refer to me as ‘Knoxie’? And if you would just learn to shut up and keep your place, maybe I wouldn’t be forced to travel so much. He heard Dupre’s chuckle follow soon after and fell silent again. Vereine let out a sigh of relief, and picked up the pace a little, though there was truly no rush. Surly they wouldn’t mind the new kid to be fashionably late. After a while of trekking the canyon with the voice’s snide remarks aggravating him every other moment, the scent of fellow wolves grew stronger and stronger. It wasn’t soon after till came across a group of others, already having settled themselves. What really surprised Vereine was the dragon. He’d heard many speak of them while traveling and would see one fly overhead once in a while, but to be so close to one was astonishing indeed. He let out a soft warning growl for Dupre and walked closer to the crowd. Having released all past anger from his lovely companion, he put on his prize façade, taking his place near the back, giving the others some space but still close enough not to seem like a complete socially awkward loner. Clearly they had already had a topic going, something about a Spring Tournament if he heard correctly, and watched as a small female spoke of her hopes to become the Gamma. Hear that, Knoxie? This is your chance to earn a nice high and mighty title! Dupre pipped, the sing song voice of he put on irritating the wolf to no end. Oh piss off, Dupre. - - - - -

BRANWEN ;
Branwen's features sagged as she heard the news of what was to come. A festival and fights to go up in ranks. The hopes of her ever raising above her current position was slim, she wouldn't even have much of a chance of being a epsilon. Bran was only a mute she-wolf, with a knack for controlling light. There wasn't a chance.
She turned to look at the little pup next to her. He had kept his mocking posture of her, though was seeming to grow board by the way he kept looking about. He had a chance of growing up and being the next leader, purely because he was blood of Rhiannon and Forte. She gestured with a paw, words appearing ahead of her, though they weren't that visible in this light. "Your lucky you know?" The pup beside her squinted at her words and shrugged. Than asked in a pupish voice. "Can I see mommy now?" Rolling her eyes, she nodded. The little pup smiled at her, than trotted off to join his mother.

She forced herself not to pause of hesitate as she went on. She had practiced what she wanted to say and once that was done, she waited for the others to speak. Another yagi she had spoken to before, Lyra appeared, sitting near Dagyr. She had come from the north and Rhiannon figured she possessed valuable information about the empire. She knew little of it, but would eventually find time to interrogate the female.
She realised another wolf had appeared without her notice. Another yagi, too. The idea of having so many strong, capable yagi made her body swell with pride. Even though she would be the last wolf to say that size meant power, the yagi were reknowned for their strength and conviction. If they were to one day face the empire, which wasn't on the table right now, but she knew things could change, she'd need as many of them as she could. Ahote, she remembered his name, moved forward, his huge body almost demanding her attention. She gave it to him, her hazel eyes flicking towards his body and watching him. He was quite a sight to see as well, with twisting horns adorning his body. A force to be reckoned with, surely.
Gypsy's voice though brought her back and she turned to her beta, smiling a little bit. "I'm thinking something like that. Either way, it should be entertaining." Another voice stole Rhiannon's attention, and she turned back to the yagi, who seemed to want to speak. He was interrupted shortly after by the bouncing red lyxxus who jumped forward. A smile broke on her lips slightly. Such a spitfire. Lyta made it clear she wanted to challenge for the rank of gamma. Her brows flicked up slightly, and she remembered the first time she had met the wolf, challenging the griffins. 'It would be interesting to see how she'd put up against the others,' she mused. Of course, despite being small, Rhiannon knew the wonders of how small wolves were fully capable in battle.
"Alright Lyta," she said, nodding her head. It was just at this point when another male approached. It took her a moment to recall his name, finding it fairly difficult. Va... Ver... Vereine. It finally came to her and she looked towards him, her eyes staying on him for a second before pulling back to a small form trotting towards him. Rhiannon couldn't help but smile as her son trotted towards her. She spoke nothing though, merely opening up her body to let the pup come and snuggle against her. Her children were over a year now, hardly pups anymore. Soon, she knew, Gulliver would be bigger than her. He already dwarfed Mesoforte.
She turned back to Ahote, realising he was probably still waiting to speak and nodded her head.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/62ae.jpeg]Ahote remained calm and patient, his body stayed solid, and still around all the others. His eyes however were darting around the room, trying to memorize all the different faces around him. With his attention turning back to Rhia, he saw how she looked on her members with pride and compassion. It was something Ahote admired, and he saw the usefulness of it as well. Power couples often came together in times of hardship to align a pack and keep a territory, he had not gotten to know much about Rhia, but he assumed her story had some similar parallels.
The other yagi female was not lost on him, and he found himself looking at her appreciatively if nothing else. Yagi were often drawn to their own kind and she seemed interesting. He wondered why yagi seemed to be drawn to this area, he had noticed many seemed to stay where the weather was warm. Before he could even enjoy the moment of peacefulness in his own mind he heard the ringing, most aggravating sound he had encountered.
The red lyxxus jumped forward and began yapping about challenging for gamma, and Ahote could not help but roll his eyes. Some may have admired the little firecracker but Ahote found her to be utterly annoying. She had made it clear how she felt about size and strength but Ahote also knew that skills would only go so far. His snort of irritation was kept to himself but he could not help the shake of his horns as his head moved from side to side.
As his eyes noticed Rhia was looking at him, his chest straightened and puffed out in pride he was indeed a specimen of male strength and he refused to be backed down by anyone. But he also believed he had more tact than to shout out at the top of his lungs like an ill grown pup starved for attention, and that was how he saw the female Lyta, pup-like.
Speaking of pups he saw the other bundle of fur move into Rhia’s side and had to smile at her pup coming up close to her, putting on a good show of motherly love. She may have been alpha and willing to go to war to defend her pack but she was also a caring, loving mother. It made Ahote admire her.
However, now it was his time to talk to Rhia and he intended to let her know exactly what he wanted, even if it drew the attention of the other wolves and they knew his intentions, at this point it did not matter. “Rhiannon I would like to put the formal challenge for Beta Male to your attention.” He would wait for her to respond but he had no intentions of backing down from any challenge, he wanted to prove himself and he could not see any better way than to challenge during the tournament…

She was nervous about the dragon, but still cold and aloof about the new members. She completely ignored Lyta, she never liked the lyxxus anyway. To Gypsy she was just a glory hound, wanting attention, even risking her life for it.
She was brought back to the yagi Ahote that spoke to Rhia. Her small ears pricked up when he declared he wanted beta male position. She did not hide her assessment of him. She looked him up and down, stopping at the more important assets that proclaimed his prowess and strength. So, a partner in crime was it? She tried to think back over her long life if she ever had a yagi in her endeavors. Being a sennyo, he could easily hurt her if they were to partake in amorous activities. However she was never against feeling strength. Provided of course it was consensual.
Her cold blue eyes fluttered back to Rhia, curious what she would say. There was currently no beta male. He would have to fight the alpha male...who was no where to be seen. Odds are he would win by default, unless Rhia thought it necessary for her and Gypsy to take up the challenge.

Dagyr turned to the female yagi and smiled. finally, one of his own. Greetings to you Lyta. I am Dagyr. It is comforting to see one of my own kind here in my new homeland. He bowed to her and smiled softly. His voice was low but rich, soft in tone and volume. His brown eyes searched the female, his smile as gentle as his voice. She was pretty, and looked very much like himself in markings, horns and color. Lyra. Yes, he would have to remember that name for the future, for she would be a good ally to have. Dagyr's ears pricked as a male yagi came near his alphess. He felt a twinge of jealousy, but crushed it before it could show in any of his movements but perhaps a flash of his eyes. Remembering his alphess's declaration of battle for position, he stood. Excuse me Lyra, but I must see our alphess for a moment. He moved gracefully for one of such bulk, skirting tails and bodies of his fellow pack members. Sitting to the side of the tighter packed group he listened to those willing to fight for positions.
First was the lyxxus. Dagyr scanned her red frame and decided she didn't look like much, but had a heart of flame. He respected that, of course, every head of war should have a heart of steel and flame so that they are prepared to command troops who might be weary and worn and longing to return home. His attention was then turned to a small fur-ball that cuddled up to Rhiannon. He couldn't help but feel a fondness for the half grown pup, so adorable at that age. A voice, low like his but with much different range broke through his focus. The other yagi... Up close Dagyr could see the male's horns and size. Something reminded him of his stepbrother and his life before, but he quickly dispelled the notion. No this male was nothing like the other, though hopefully this time Dagyr would win. His voice was soft, but it cut through the other voices. Rhiannon, my alphess, when I joined I promised I would stand by you in the best way I can, and at the moment this is the best way I can think of, if you will allow me...I would also like to step forth and challenge for the beta position. He brought his eyes to Rhiannon's face, standing firm. His eyes sparked with determination and strength. Nothing but Rhiannon herself would stand in his way to keeping her as safe as possible. Seeing her standing there before him only set his heart into a higher flame of determination. She looked so strong, so proud, and yet so beautiful standing above the pack, and he knew he would give his life for her if she asked.
He then turned his eyes to the female beta. Gypsy... if I am correct. I hope whoever wins in the trial will meet your satisfaction, seeing as you will be the one dealing with them most. Dagyr knew that Gypsy's view of him could be the difference between beta and no position at all. With her having been recently promoted she had almost as much power as Rhiannon herself. Dagyr had watched her look over the other yagi male. He could not tell yet if she quite approved of either of them. He bowed to the beta female and sat to wait to see if his alphess would answer him.

Rattinger raised a brow, head nodding slightly at the alpha's words. "Then we are in agreement," he chirped. Well, it was more of a croak but none the less he had accepted her acceptance of him. Formalities done, he allowed himself to relax a bit. He no longer commanded attention and thus could take the time to observe and pass his judgements.
And judge his new pack mates he did. Strangers seemed to keep trickling in, many of them pushing their luck with what sort of timing was considered late. And there was a wide assortment of species as well. Each and every one of them was sized up by his beady gaze, mind classifying them each by stereotypes based mostly on appearances. Of course, he also judged their potential as a future meal. All those Yagi would make a fine dinner, a lot of meat on their bones. What most caught his attention, however, was winged fellow that walked up.
"Raven." It was less a greeting and more of a statement of the obvious. His white muzzle twitched with a small smile. If there was one thing the Vulture was good at spotting, it was a fellow bird Myou. His own kind were one of the few creatures he showed any sort of instant respect for. They would have to chat later.
Rhianon's voice put a halt to his observations. His wings ruffled lightly as once again he readjusted his position, never quite content to keep his feet on the ground. He would rather be soaring up above the others, watching them from afar as he waited for someone to die. But as a Spring Tournament and earning ranks was discussed among the pack, he realized the best way to keep to a life in the skies was to get into a position that would suite his needs.
Taking a moment to ponder this, he realized he knew little to nothing about the pack's ranking system. So when he spoke up (which was inevitable for he rarely held his tongue), Rattinger neither took the boisterous approach of the Lyxxus nor the quiet, respectful statements of the male Yagi. Instead he put forth a question of his own, eyes fixing back upon the alphess. "Have you need for a scout?"

She rose a brow, her eyes swirling a light blue as she watched the metting wrap up. She stood and shook her body out a little, making sure to not hit anyone. "Rhia. If i may?" She resepcted the female as such would not speak out in the meeting unless she was given permission. Not that she couldnt ust that this way she could have the alphess and perhaps the rest of the pack actually pay attention to what she said.
She sat back but didnt lay down. She hoped she was doing the right thing with bringing up her idea. But she figured these wolves alone couldnt hurt her to badly. Together yes but singlely no.

The seven year old, barn swallow myou had been sitting silent through the entire meeting, and no one seemed to have yet noticed her presence. It was fine, as she would remain silent in respect of her alphas. The black dragon didn't make her uneasy in the slightest. In fact, she was most curious about her, and she desperately wanted to say hello, but held her tongue for the moment. She listened intently to Rhiannon, taking in every word and action of hers and the others.
Sandralina lifted herself from the ground at the mention of pack challenges, challenges for rank. This was her chance. She didn't want to seem small and weak compared to her packmates. Besides, the lyxxus and her outburst made Sandra more comfortable with her decision in challenging as well. Estoni, her second soul, giggled at her, "Go for it, girlfriend!" Sandralina held back her laughter; Estoni could be a real riot sometimes. She stepped forward, making herself known among the others, and somehow managed to make a standing beside the lyxxus female. She smiled at her, "I'm Sandralina, nice to meet you. I hope you don't mind some competition."
With that, the barn swallow myou turned her attention to her alphess, feeling her feathers ruffle some in excitement. "Rhiannon, if I may add, I would like to challenge for gamma as well." Sandralina tried not to sound too forward with her decision. As excited as she was to do this, she was also nervous. She wasn't sure if Rhia would allow her to try out for the position and even the seven year old knew it was a long shot, mostly because of her good-nature self. However, no matter how long of a shot it would be, she wanted to try.
Pack ranks were a general thing to come by in a pack. Most times, when one joins a pack, your rank is decided from the get go and you are to stay there until the highest ranked wolf thinks you deserve a promotion. It was like that when Sandralina was little. The only difference was the fact that whatever rank you were given, you stayed there until you died or were killed by a pack member. She was glad to have escaped that. She wondered if this tournament would involve killing. She knew it involved fighting for the rank, but she certainly hoped no one would be killed. Either way, she had already made her proposal and there was really no getting out of it now.
OOC: I hope you don't mind if I join, I know I'm a little late.
