Cozy warmth kept Obi from opening his eyes when he awoke. His mouth was dry and he knew he needed water. Yet he couldn't get himself to move. He lay there, slipping in and out of sleep until he tried to move and felt a dull pain in his side.
Obi's eyes snapped open, revealing bright blue eyes filled with confusion. Where was he? His memory was fuzzy but slowly images returned to him. The fire, the dragon, Tobias and him falling into the river, then a rock, then... nothing.
He looked around the cave that he was in. It smelled familiar and looked familiar. I think this is a den in the caverns. Obi concluded, though he had never been in this den before.
Deciding that he needed to get up, obi started to turn on his belly and felt the dull pain again. He looked at his side and noticed that the wound the dragon had inflicted was almost healed. All that remained was a pinkish line.
"Must be sore..." He muttered to himself. He gritted his teeth and rolled over, only letting out a soft whimper. Pulling himself up to his feet, he felt dizzy and leaned against the nearby cave wall.
"Hello?" Obi called once, he voice croaking due to the lack of moisture. "Hello?!" He called again, this time even louder.

It had been a few days since the pack had all reconvened, but she knew they were only staying long enough to lick their wounds. Some of the members were in far from good shape, but with Keeley missing and most of the territory destroyed in the fire they had very few options. Once everyone was healed up enough, the search for their missing pack mate would begin. And on top of that they would need to find a new home. There was only so long they would be able to support themselves on dwindling resources.
But first they all had to mend. The fire had been much worse than just a fire. Apparently a dragon had gone after half the pack. A few of them were lucky to have escaped with their lives. Like Obi... Obi. Lydia swallowed, trying not to think about him like that. He was doing much better now, his wounds closing and the bones beginning to set. But when she'd first seen the condition he was in she'd nearly had a heart attack. She had been spending a better portion of her time watching over his limp form when not tending to the others. What knowledge of medicines she had was proving useful, even if it was a limited skill. And being kept busy helped to keep her mind from fearing for the worst.
She wasn't far from where she had left her dear friend sleeping which is why her ears perked up instantly at the sound of his weak voice. Obi was awake? She practically sprinted the last few feet to the small cavern, dropping her stash just inside its entrance before searching out the male. Not only was he awake, but he was also up and about. She found him leaning against a wall not far from where he'd been laying. She was by his side in a matter of seconds, pressing her head carefully against his neck to nuzzle against him without making contact with one of his bruises. Concern flooded her violet eyes, voice quiet but stern as she spoke the words on her mind. "Obi... You shouldn't be up. You're body's still healing."

Relief flooded through Obi. He's legs, already weak from hunger and pain, started to shake. Here was Lydia, nuzzling him, the smell of herbs wafted from her, but other than that she seemed fine.
"Lydia..." He breathed, lowering his head down to nuzzle her shoulder. "Your here..."
His blue eyes stared at her in amazement. It almost seemed like a dream, but it wasn't, at least he didn't think it was. She was perfectly safe, unscathed or anything. Obi shoved his nose deeper into her fur, taking in every little thing about her.
"Your safe." He wished he could speak more, explain his fear that she was gone, explain his relief, but his dry mouth refused to let him speak without pain. He gently licked her behind her ear taking his time, not caring that his whole body was starting to shake in pain.
Then his legs started to give out and his headache got worse.Slumping heavily against the wall, he took long, slow, breaths to clear his head.
"Sorry... I'm a bit thirsty..." His belly let out a painful growl. " And hungry."

His memory seemed to be in tact, which was good. Having to deal with amnesia on top of anything else would have made the healing process more difficult. She closed her eyes against him, breathing in his scent and letting it calm her. He was okay, he was going to be okay.
Of course, his words brought out a bit of a snarky response from her. Did he not know how much he had worried her? "Why wouldn't I be? I'm not the one who thought it was a good idea to antagonize a dragon." But her expression softened as he slumped against the wall. She hated seeing him like this.
"Here, can you walk if you lean against me? The stream's not far off." She had made sure Obi was placed in a cavern close to the underground river. The less distance she had to tote water to tend to his wounds, the better. And the less distance he had to travel to rehydrate was also an important minor detail. She readied herself to take the brunt of his weight. Then she would lead him to the river.

Obi half stumbled his way over to Lydia, careful not to put to much weight on her as he leaned. He thought he could hear the river, but that also could be the blood rushing through his ears. "The Dragon had it coming." He grunted as he walked forward, going as slow as he could so that he didn't accidentally squish Lydia under his weight. Each step brought a new type of pain, but the pain was surprisingly tolerable. Almost as if he knew it was really painful but he could barely feel it. He stared at the ground to keep his feet steady but there was a strange, sharp, up and down to every other step. Obi realized he was limping on the side the dragon had struck him.
"That's new." He said. He cursed the dragon under his breath. That brought up a new question in his mind. "Lydia, how'd I get here? Last thing I remembered I was in the river. I think I hit a rock."
Obi had been wondering that the moment he woke up. He was also wondering where his sibling's were, but currently his mind couldn't handle more then one question at a time. And he didn't really want to know. If it was bad, he would find out sooner or later, however just not right after he had woken up.

She didn't mind bearing the brunt of Obi's weight for the most part. If anything, she had a feeling she weighed more than he did, having a stockier build versus his taller but leaner one. Had she dwelled on the thought, insecurity would have started to seep in. But she had bigger things to worry about than how much she weighted, like the fact that the male thought getting beat up by a dragon was something worth boasting about. Lydia rolled her eyes.
They had almost reached the bank, the river clearly in sight when Obi asked a question that caused her to flinch. She glanced at him from the corner of her eyes, remaining silent as she safely guided him to a shallower part of the rock face. He should be able to drink now without having to worry about falling in.
She backed off a bit then, deciding to give him some space. Truth be told she didn't actually want to be next to him when she told him what she knew. They story she'd heard wasn't exactly pleasant; she couldn't bring herself to look him in the eye as she spoke. Lydia had been so worried about him and thinking about it all, she did not want him to see in case she started crying. Now was not the time for tears; now was a time for strength. "The river did most of the work. Carried you and Tobias back to the dens. Somehow he managed to get you both out. We found you a ways up not long after." She gestured slightly with her nose, chancing a glance at her injured friend.

Obi lowered his head down to the river, lapping up the nice cold water greedily. He could feel Lydia's discomfort, but ignored it as best he could while he drank. He lifted his head once Lydia started to speak, his ear's turning as far back as they could to hear her but Obi's eyes continued to look off to the cave wall on the other side of the river.
He turned towards Lydia just in time to catch her eyes. A small lump formed in his throat, trying to block the question in his throat. He wanted to know but didn't at the same time.
Limping forward a bit, he stopped in front of Lydia, but didn't look at her.
"And the other's? What happened to Keely?" His voice cracked a bit at the end. Even if Keely was safe, even if she was here, he had still abandoned her in the fire.
