Being a mother is a wonderful thing... Not.

Darkness slowly decended into the land, coloring the beautiful landscape, to the dark of nightmares. A howl split through the land, It was for the ears of one wolf though, that certian pitch that made a name out of the howl. She called for her son Apollo. She had not seen him in awhile and she wanted to know how her son was doing. He was one of the few surviving Myou's that came from her and Flynn. Hmm Flynn what was he doing? She rolled her eyes before curling up on a still warm rock. Her cobra body stayed coiled as she waited for the male to come to her.

Apollo had wandered quite a ways away from the dens while trying to practice his flying, hunting and fighting. Thats all he seemed to want to do now that he was old enough to leave the den and his parents were hardly around, most likely tending to mafia buisness.

It was starting to get dark and he thought he should head back to the den for the night, when a howl split the air. Apollo knew it distinctly of his mothers voice for it had a slight hiss to it. She was calling for him. This struck a question in his mind, his mother was looking for him, she must have noticed he wasnt a the den, was something wrong? He turned around and started to run back, maybe he could impress her with his newly earned flying skills, but then again she was never easily impressed.

He glided half way and then ran the rest. He soon reached the commons to find his mother coiled up on a flat rock. He gave a yip of greeting and walked to her side. "You needed me mother?"

Rosella watched her son as he moved threw the trees. Her eyes closed for a moment before opening and she could see the heat vision like a snake. Her tongue went in and out as she tested the air. She was curious what her son was up to and wanted to see how well he hunted. When he yiped she gave a small hiss as per her normal greeting and nodded her head slightly. "Yessss, i want to sssssee how well you hunt in the dark."

Her yellow orbs shut a moment before opening agian and she could see in wolf color. She tilted her head at her son, moving so that her body ended up coiling around him. Yes she was a big bitch in all regards. She smirked slightly for she didnt really smile to anyone but FLynn and even then it was rare. " Will you endulge me?"

Apollo had always been scared by his mothers slitted eyes and forked tongue and the way she spoke with a hiss. But he had learned to get used to it for all myous had a different way of speaking that reflected their second soul, his being an eagle he always had a bit of a screech to his voice. When his mother mentioned hunting his eyes brightened he had been getting good at it and couldnt wait to show his mother his skills, but his eyes darkened at the though of hunting in the dark. He had never done so before but the challenge would be good for him.

His mother curled around him and he closed his eyes and nuzzled her affectionately for he wasnt used to this kind of one on one attention. He answered back with a half excited, half nervous yip, "Ok, I have been practicing but never in the dark before." his eyes flitted to the forest and then back to his mother.

Rosella while not liking anyone really but Flynn did happen to like Apollo and the other surviving members of their family. She shook her head slightly and nuzzled him back. "If one issss to be a great hunter one mussst learn to hunt in all ssssortssss of conditionssss. From now on i will help you in hunting in each condition." Yes she was going to have more of a hand with raising her children then she had. Mostly she had to get used to the fact they were hers and not someone elses kids. That and she never was the mothering type but she was a teacher when it came to killing.

She moved from being around him and started towards the forest. Looking over her shoulder she gestured for him to come. " Because you are with flight we will take to the treesss when we have found our prey. I think im in the mood for ssssome Deer tonight." She closed her eyes, flicking her tongue in and out to taste, as well as to hear what was around them. She opened them and looked at Apollo. " What do you hear?"


(ooc: I figure they can hear, birds, insects and maybe in the distance some deer moving threw the undergrowth, as well as the sound of a unicorn running fast threw the trees? you can choose of course what he hears and doesnt but i figured it would be fun to do a IC test ^_^)

Apollo followed his mother into the forest scanning the undergrowth for signs of prey, his liquid gold eyes glowing in the darkness. His nose in the air. When his mother asked what he could hear he started to angle his ears trying to catch any noise made by animals in the undergrowth. To his surprise quite a few things were moving in the undergrowth not far away. He opened his mouth to list the noises and scents that he caught to his mother, "I can hear birds in the trees, insects beneath the ground, a unicorn running threw the trees, and few deer straight ahead." He finished with a nod and tilted his head, he could hear something else not a metre away, he caught the scent of a jackalope. His eyes brightened with determination, he had not yet caught a jackalope for their antlers usually shooed him away in fear of being stabbed but that was a month ago, he was stronger and better now and the challenge was right there.

He unfolded his wings just a tad but kept his tail feathers folded and lowered himself to the ground. He was really close to the creature now he could see it nibbling on some of the grass unaware of his prescence. He jumped flapping once then landing on top of the animal dodging its swinging antlers and killing it with a swift bite to its neck. He picked up the jackalope in his mouth and trotted over to his mother, tail raised and head held high, eyes shining with pride as he walked towards his mother with his catch.

Rosella watched the male and nodded her head. Before she could speak he started to hunt. She slithered as silently as only a snake can and watched him catch a jackalope. He came and droped it at her feet. She ripped the head off because there was to much bone in it to really digest. "Good but i sssaid dear." She chuckled and bite off the top half of the creature before offering the second half to him.

"Gather your strength for the deer are much harder to kill. But you did well with making very little noisssse. Try and sssstep more lightly when you hunt." She showed up by moving silently towards him. Lifting and putting down each paw deliberatly. She moved slow so he could actually see how she placed them. "When you get thisss part down you can move fasssster."

[Flynn]

Flynn moved quickly through his pre-made game trails, he had them memorized for the times he was caught in the dark. He hated moving through the dark, but his nose and ears were decent guides where his eyes failed. He could smell the heavy-moist earth the gave the evening a heady and seductive tone. So rich were the scents it was hard to pick out certain ones. However there were two that stood out. Rosella and his son.

He stopped and tasted the air, trying to pinpoint the location of his kin. He fluffed up his hackles and tried to move silently. He soon found himself at the foot of a large tree. His ears twitched as the scent of deer came to his nostrils. He moved away from the tree, deciding to maybe leave them be for the night. He did not know how to climb trees, or track them if they were still in the tress.

The small myou rustled through the large ferns, making them move just enough that could be mistaken for a prey item. He didn't really think anything of it, he had moved through the brush so often.

Apollo's eyes darkened when his mother didn't compliment him on his catch but brightened again as she teached him how to be better. He copied her footsteps but he could not do it as good as she did for she was as silent as a snake, he was better diving for the prey silently from a tree, which he had gotten good at climbing, than trying to pick up his feet he hated how his insanely long claws always got caught on leaves.

Still he followed his mother silently through the undergrowth but stopped dead when he heard another noise coming from the undergrowth. He could not see or decifer the scent but it was much larger than the jackalope he had just caught. He automatically assumed that it was another prey item and determined to catch something bigger than him to really impress his mother he stalked it the way his mother had shown him. But then climbing a nearby tree and looking down from the branches. Spying grey fur and a white belly he stopped in his tracks and took another whiff of the air. It was his father Flynn. He jumped from the tree and glided down next to his father giving a bark to his mother on the other side of the ferns to let her know someone was here.

Rosella watched her sons emotions roll threw his eyes, and hid her own. She wouldnt praise him till he caught what she said for him to catch. yes she was a horrible teacher but she was also a great teacher. Her snake senses alerted her to big prey before her mind could make up what she was sensing. Her body was moving towards the sound before she even knew to that Apollo was in the sky. Apparently she was more hungry then she thought.

However the word Mate screamed at her and in mid leap she sheathed her claws and pounced on Flynn. She looked at him in shock then nuzzled into his neck. Only with Flynn was she what others would consider a true female. She smiled at him before turning to Apollo. "Perhapsss you'd like to join usss. Apollo issss going to catch a deer." Her eyes flickered from her mate to her son. Okay so she did happen to enjoy being a mother. But mostly she was happy to find Flynn even if the snake part of her still said she should eat him.

[Flynn]

Flynn suddenly felt a great sense of dread. He heard something take wing, then he heard something else leap. Oh hells bells...She puffed up like a cat and exposed his red teeth as his son landed in front of him. He did not have time to react to the massive weight of Rosella. Her body hit him and sent the usually low center of gravity of the male, careening to his side with an alarmed growl. He struggled to breath a little, her nose in his neck made him more nervous than he could say. But he did not feel teeth, thankfully. And he had resisted the urge to bite as well. Yay no family poisoning today.

He groused a little, trying to right himself and shrug his mate off of him. He manged to get to his belly and glare around at his kin. A few of his whiskers were bent, and he was disheveled, but unharmed. He grunted in response to her words, "A deer? Alright." It never took much to convince him to get food.

Apollo was happy to see his father but his red capped teeth always freaked him out. When his mother came bursting out of the bushes and ran full throttle into him he let out a screech of alarm and leaped back so as to avoid being hit. He folded his wings to his sides and folded his tail feathers to his tail and started to walk towards the scent of deer. His father was hunting with then now so it would be somewhat easier, two parents with poisoning abilities and him with wings and sharp claws.

He could see the deer now, it was a strong few but he could see a limp in a doe off to the side. He looked back to his parents and motioned with his paws and eyes to the limping doe. He then waited for commands for he had never caught anything this big before. There was a tree right beside the deer and a branch above aswell, if he could climb up and jump down on its back grabbing it with his claws it would distract it long enough for his parents to make the killing bite.

He was to nervous ad excited to suggest this idea so instead waited for his parents to suggest something, hoping they were thinking the same as he. But for now he stood eyeing the injured doe's every movement, waiting for an order from his mother or father.
