Let the Day Commence [Nali/Kidella pups]

How was it possible to love and hate at the same time, Rache wondered. The morning sun was peaking though the leaves, casting light into the little pup's eyes. Rache, curled up tighter not wanting to relinquish the sleep she had just left. Yet the heat was bearing down on her and parrots cawing overhead assaulted her ears. Her family had already begun to stir and the day had commenced. There was no way for her to fight wakefulness any longer.

The gold and black hybrid puppy uncurled herself and stretched away the kinks of sleep. She opened her jaw in a large yawn. From their she began to wash her fur like she had seen other wolves do. The taste might not have been pleasant but it made others fur look nice and Rache wanted that too.

Now back to being able to love and hate someone at the same time. See Rache loved, for the most part, her family. But it was times like these, when the morning sun got her sibling blood rushing, that she absolutely hated them.

Rache had just finished washing herself and was looking around for her mother to provide her with breakfast when one of her siblings collided with her, sending her flying into a puddle of muck. The culprits had been rough housing, a past time Rache found beneath her, and had not been aware of their surrounding like most pups aren't. The mud covered pup howled with rage ready to pulverize the moron who did this to her, family or not.

Kitandren!

They say the early bird always gets the worm. Really, that phrase should have been reworked to talk about hybrids. Kitandren was an early riser. Even when he went to bed late, he still tended to wake at the crack of dawn. He liked dawn. Watching the sun rise over the eastern horizon always filled him with a sort of joy. It was always such a melodic time of day, the morning filled with the waking hum of animals stirring from their den. And knowing that a lucky few wake up to see their last glimpse of sunlight made his chest rumble with a satisfied growl.

The young male had spent a better part of the morning murdering worms. The rain from last night had brought a good deal of them to the surface (as well as making the ground rather muddy but that was of little consequence to him). Every time he stumbled across another worm he would stomp his paws upon it, cutting it with baby claws as he diced it into pieces. But the best part was the cries they would emit as he mutalitated his bodies. His ability to speak with and hear all animals was a true blessing. There was nothing more he delighted in than listening to the desperate screams of his victims.

But his stomach had started to growl. He had been out on his own long enough, he decided. It was time to head back to the dens for some breakfast. The sun was getting pretty bright now anyways. He knew better than to stay out too long without parental supervision. All that ever did was make his parents worry, and he did not enjoy getting chastised by his father.

The sight that greeted him today, however, was not one he had been expecting. He must have been having his fun with the worms for longer than he'd thought. Most of his siblings were already awake, a few of them playfully rough housing. One of his sisters, Rache, was the one who caught his attention though. Sneaking up behind her, he placed his nose close to her ear, hoping to spook her as he spoke. "Quit bein' such a baby. It's just mud."

Did Rache mention she hated her family? It did no good that her brother could so easily sneak up on her. Then again she was furious. It was probably that which hindered her abilities. At least that's what she would tell her self. Angry because Kit had gotten the jump on her and she was covered in mud she couldn't think rationally. It was times like these that Rache lowered herself to childish behavior. She shook herself, flinging mud everywhere, especially all over the sibling next to her.

"Shu'd up Kit! You didn't just spend forever cleaning it," She sneered. Of course Rache knew it wasn't the best come back but it angered her that he didn't respect her hard work.
"Where were you anyway, you know da' doesn't like us wondering off?" she asked as she examined her fur in despair. It would taste even nastier this time around. She began to wash herself all over again, sending a silent threat to the pups that had knocked her over in the first place.

He tongue hit a especially large lump of mud that got caught in her throat and began to choke. Rache heave very ungracefully until she was able to spit the muck out. She looked up embarrassed and in pain.
"You didn't see that!" she spat.

Kit chuckled as he got the reaction he had wanted. Girls were so stupid! It was too easy to get under their skin. He could have done without getting mud flung on him though. He did share some of Rache's vanity, knowing that it was easier to get what he wanted when his fur wasn't a disorganized mess. He let out a squeaky, puppyish growl, rubbing at his face with his paws.

It was a pity the mud draped itself across his nose. He couldn't see it without crossing his eyes and he was pretty sure rubbing it was only making it worse. But he wasn't going to bathe in the Pool all by himself. While he might had dared one of his siblings to attempt such nonsense, he had no desire to be eaten by a gator or something worse. So he continued to rub in his mud mask, pausing only long enough to answer his sister's question. "What pop dunno won't hurt 'im. I like watchin' da sun up."

He was about to tell her about his conquest over the worm kingdom when Rache started choking. For a brief moment he wasn't sure whether to laugh at her misfortune or show some concern for his sibling. After all, he wasn't a completely cold hearted bastard and he did love his family as much as he loved to tease them. But embarrassment took over his sister as quickly as the mud came out, and Kit decided to laugh. He leaned his head towards her, playfully licking her cheek. Girls really were so stupid. "Missed a spot, sis. You're sooo lady like." He snickered, enjoying his own sarcasm.

Rache growled at Kit for laughing at her. She huffed and stuck up her nose pretentiously. It didn't matter if he laughed at her now, she told herself, she was better than him anyway. Though she was still embarrassed. After that display she would definitely wait till bath time to get clean.

She jumped a little when Kit licked her cheek and continued his teasing. She narrowed her eyes at him threateningly yet knowing it wouldn't scare him. Either way it was good practice to try and intimidate her siblings, because they weren't easily intimidated. One day she would need to strike fear into others if she wished to move up in the pack hierarchy, which she did.

"Ha ha, Your reeeaaal funny," Rache snapped, batting her brothers muzzle, "Sun up was forever ago, stupid. You were doing more than just watching da sun."
Rache felt smug, thinking Kit was hiding something from her and had found him out. Here face twisted maliciously," So, what were ya doin?"

The pup's nose wrinkled in distaste as his sister batted his nose. But he let it go. The question she put forth was much more enticing than any physical fight they could have gotten into. Glancing first left, then right, he made sure the rest of his siblings were occupied. Then he crept closer to Rache, a conspiratorial smile twisting up his lips.

"Promise you wont tell... or else," he whispered, just loud enough so only she would hear. He checked once more to make sure his siblings weren't listening. Then he went on with his grand tale of how he'd spent his morning. "I was makin' insects scream. Did ya know worms dun die if you split 'em in half? They just keep wigglin' and movin' and stuff. Gotta cut 'em up real small before they finally die."

Her ears perked up the moment Kit asked her not to tell. Secrets, Rache loved secrets. That made her special, made her important. She leaned in close, and as Kit told his adventure and what he learned about worms she became more excited. It seemed the shared a common interest, the destruction of others. Now that Kit had told her that, she felt the desire to tell him of her own adventures.

"Have ya ever squished a mouse?" She asked real quiet so only Kit could here, "They're real stupid so if you sneak up on them where they can't smell ya it's easy to catch them. I'll bat them around a bit till they get even more confused. Then I squish them under my paws and listen to them squeal. Their little tails get a twitchy then they just stop."

She watched her brother, there was hope in her that he would feel the same way about mice squishing as she had about his worm slicing. If he did they could find bigger prey to play with.

Kitandren!

Kit couldn't help but smirk as Rache took his invite as a change to exchange information. It was always nice to get something in return for giving something up. If he didn't, that was alright too. The little male like to keep score. Every time he did something nice for someone, it just meant he had the ability to collect from them another favor. Bank up enough favors and he would practically own their souls.

Rache was smarter than that though. Of course she was, given they shared the same blood. Apparently she was better at discovering things too. Kitandren's eyes widened in delight at her tale. Mice? He had never bothered with them before. Instead he always went for the easy kill, torturing that which was defenseless and would give him no chase. Maybe it was time he start expanding upon his skill set and knowledge base. There was a lot of prey in the world, after all, and worms were getting old fast.

"Hey Rache?" he kept up his whisper. Stealing another glance, he eyed one of his smaller siblings hungrily before turning his attentions back to his sister. The smirk on his face was conspiratorial. Sure he often viewed the fairer sex as inferior, but right now his sister was being useful and he would use her for all she had. "What else do you think would scream if we killed it?"

Nightmares were beautiful. You could do whatever you wanted in them. And that's exactly what Gemini wanted to do. Whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted. She loved having nightmares. They were fun and exciting.

In her current nightmare, she was walking through her Jungle home. It was quiet and almost noisy at the same time. It didn't make sense to a sane wolf. Although Gemini's family wasn't really sane as a whole either, so she was no real exception. Everything made sense in the world only she saw.

In the real world, however, she was asleep. Although, it wasn't so much of a normal sleep. She picked herself up off the den floor and started slowly walking...

Colors flashed behind her eyes and Gemini saw many things. Wolves falling over and then more wolves coming forth to devour their corpses. Her tummy grumbled as she walked on. Then she saw a butterfly. A simple creature, of course. It was just a butterfly. They didn't often say a lot. Gemini thought it was pretty. She wondered how pretty it would be if she ripped it's wings off, like the one she had the other day. It's pitiful screams as it died writhing on the ground in agony.

Gemini had been careful not to kill it during the process of amputating the wings. She plucked them off and left it on a rock, then snuck behind a tree to watch. She heard it cry out feebly, as butterflies do, until a bird had flown down and plucked it up, ending the game. Gemini had watched with fascination and entertainment.

Now she walked past some of her playing siblings, towards two that were off to the side, exchanging words. She didn't know they were there though. She just kept walking.

In her dream, the butterfly changed into a Sennyo. It wasn't one she knew, but it was small and feeble. The size of a butterfly. Through the trees she heard a faint echo and her ears twitched. What else do you think would scream if we killed it? Gemini didn't recognize the voice until she realized it must have been the butterfly-sized Sennyo.

"What if we killed flying Sennyo!" She snarled gleefully at it, before leaping into the air and clamping it sharply between her teeth. Hot blood flooded into her mouth and she was happy... until she landed.

Gemini landed on a warm thingie. Confused, she opened her eyes to see brownish-black fur. The blood was gone. Aww!

Rache's eyes fallowed Kit's gaze to one of their siblings before continuing. "What else do you think would scream if we killed it?" Rache smiled, liking where her brothers mind was wondering. Making one of their siblings scream would be fun. She entertained the thought of killing one for a moment. It would upset father if they killed one... But it couldn't hurt to slightly maim right?

Out of the corner of her eye Rache noticed her sister Gemini walking. Only Gemini's eyes were closed.' What is she doing?' Rache thought, but didn't point it out to Kit. It wasn't that important and their plot was more interesting.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"She practically purred, not something the hot headed pup did often. "If I distract you can --" Rache trailed of as Gemini kept going, and jumped right on top of Kit.

Rache snorted a laugh and suggested," Or we can just see if she screams."

Kitandren!

Kit cocked his head to one side, intently listening to his sister. His eyes, however, remained fixed on his other siblings. While they all had minor things in common, each was as unique as a finger print. He wanted to select the perfect target, the one that would release the best reaction, the one that would squeal the loudest when he bit down a little too hard.

Too bad he was too focused to realize Gemini was coming towards them. When he finally turned, the sound of her excited voice capturing his attention, it was too late. He tried to scramble away, but her flying leap of doom had a target lock on him. With a rather un-male-like squeak, his sister collided with him, shoving him into the dirt. Kitandren twisted and squirmed, using everything in his power to get out from underneath her. He even tried to bite her, teeth seeking purchase into her soft skin.

Rache's laughter did nothing to help him. The young male felt furious inside. Not only had he just been squashed by a girl, but another girl was laughing at him because of it! The indignity! The injustice! The unfairness of the cruel, cruel world! "Shut it, Rache!" he barked. "And get the hell offa me, Gem! I'm gonna kill you!"

Rache's chuckle grew louder as Kit tried to tell her to shut up. Like she was going to listen to him. She backed up as her two sibling began to brawl. This was almost as interesting as squishing mice. The best part was, she didn't have to get her paws dirty!

Her laugh died down as she began to clean some more of the muck off of her pelt. Her light brown eyes gleamed with amusement as she watched the squabble. Her tongue ran the length of her jaw, aching to see blood. Would in not be just so funny to watch them tear each other up? Maybe she would jump in the fray when the two of them were tired out and claim the victory as her own.

"You know Kit, things like this wouldn't happen if you payed better attention to your surroundings," Rache couldn't help but tease him a bit.
