It was almost noon, and the heat had begun to get to him. He had taken the morning to conduct a few rounds of the pack lands. He hadn't seen any dangers or loaners looking for a new home, so Dagyr decided he was going to spend the hottest hours of the day in the shade. This cave was just about his second favorite place in the canyon, the first being right on the edge, looking across it, especially at sunset. He smiled at the thought and walked deeper into the cave as his eyes adjusted to the darkness. It wasn't pitch black thanks to the light bouncing off the gem-lined walls, but it was dim and cool, just what Dagyr needed.
The beta curled up just outside of his alcove that acted as his bedding are. He wondered if anyone else would have his same idea. It would be nice to speak to someone to help pass the hours.

Lyra had been out for a few hours she hadn't slept well last night because she kept rolling on her sore paw and she would end up giving a yelp and jumping to her feet. She had gone out at sunrise and gone done to the Eas Spring to get a quick drink. Now her ankle was really bothering her so she had decided to head back to the Falach. She could hear the thundering of the waterfall up ahead and her limping gait became quicker. She was very tired and and couldnt wait to lie down in the den.
She walked past the waterfall and into the cave. It was cool and dark just what she needed. She always loved the way the light from the holes in the cave bounced off the gems. Through the shadows her emerald eyes found a figure very similiar to her own and she knew it to be Dagyr. She walked over to stand in front of him dipping her head politely "Hello Dagyr, fancy meeting you here at this time of day." she lay herself down with a sigh, it felt good to relieve the stress on her paw.

Dagyr looked up as the cave got darker for a moment, his ears pricking at the sound of footsteps. His brown eyes followed the figure as it exited the light, and a smiled formed on his face. Lyra. His fellow Yagi. He watched her as she stopped in front of him, bowing slightly. Good afternoon Lyra. Seems you have the same idea of keeping out of the sun today...
Dagyr watched how she limped when she walked and winced slightly. He had heard what had happened to her and felt bad that he hadn't been there. Of course Ahote couldn't do anything, so he wouldn't have been able to either, but it still made him feel bad for her. Is your ankle acting up still Lyra? He was taking a leap of faith here. He cared greatly about her, even if they hadn't spoken as much as he had wished, but he had been awful busy, just as she had. Dagyr just hoped he wasn't poking an open wound. Yagis had to stick together, stay strong. The other wounds had seemed to heal, but he knew she would probably always have a limp... He just hoped she wouldn't be in constant pain for the rest of her life. He watched her through concerned eyes. Maybe now that they weren't so busy they could be good friends. He dared not think further just yet... but she was a very beautiful yagi...

Lyra looked down at her ankle it was somewhat shredded looking and was covered in scabs soon to be scars from the incident. She sighed, "Unfortuneately yes, and won't get any better according to Branwen. Anways away from that topic, How are you?" She looked at him her soft emerald eyes meeting his gold ones, she had always been surprised that one could look so similar to her he also had towering antlers and spines on his forehead and above his eyes he also had a green base coat. The only differences were that his markings were much different and were a dark charcoal instead of dark green and muddy brown. All in all he was quite a handsome wolf.
She yawned showing her pearly white fangs and bent her head back to scratch her leg with the pointed tips of her antlers then turning back to Dagyr.

Dagyr shook his head softly. Of course Lyra, as you wish. I am good, could be better I guess... He looked up and toward the soft light that filtered in. Forte has returned... I have yet to decide if I trust him or not... leaving our alphess alone and afraid...I am caught between being angry at a stranger an rolling over and deciding it is none of my business how he treats his mate. He shook his head again to turn his mind from the thoughts. To think he had fallen in love with his alphess... Even dreamed of taking Forte's place... He must have gone mad. It was all this heat, it was. He was sure of it. What sane Yagi would want to mate a myou? And a small red myou at that! He turned to look at Lyra again, noticing her looking him over. He thought she could be a sister, they looked so alike, but he knew she couldn't be. His mother hadn't had children after his litter, and his father... of course... was dead.
He licked at a paw, soothing a scar on his pad from when he had saved Rhia upon their first meeting. It was healing nicely, the scar blending in well with the leathery underside of his paw. He watched her from the corner of his eye as he did. So other than your ankle, how have you been? Dagyr had heard rumors about her and Ahote... he wondered if this had any truth to them.

"Im ok, I guess. So far the only souls I have met here have been Ahote, Lyta, and You. I despise Lyta as she is rude and has a mouth on her but I am glad I have 2 good Yagi friends that I can talk to." she stressed friends as she thought that maybe Dagyr had been thinking that she was more than friends with Ahote as she knew those rumours must have been spread. The Yagi had saved her life and she had thought that she loved him but she knew he didn't by the expressions on his face and his actions. He was a good friend nontheless but no more than that.
She thought carefully about what Dagyr had said. It sounded like he cared about his Alphess as a Beta should but something about his words made her think that he liked her a bit more than one would think. She had also heard about Forte's return and departure though she didn't pay much attention to that she had enough to worry about.

Dagyr watched Lyra as she spoke about her relations in the pack. I'm glad there are yagis beside myself in this pack. It would get rather lonely being the only one of your species in the land. He sighed and shook his head. I have meet most of the new members, but I haven't had time to develop any relationship past acquaintance with anyone besides you and Rhiannon. This is the first time I've quite given myself time to rest that hasn't been interrupted by some wolf asking or admittance or requesting permission to pass through to the other side of our lands... I don't mind really, I love my new job. I just have to get used to it. He chuckled and stretched, yawning softly.
Well he had established that he was her friend, but also established that Ahote was nothing more than a friend to her either. She was a sane Yagi, so she would have to choose between one of them if she wanted to mate, and if another male did not appear out of thin air any time soon. He wouldn't force the issue, but he wondered, while she was beautiful, could he fall in love with her? Probably, he would just have to get to know her better. He had already established that she was attractive, she was the right species, and she had a good moral compass. He shook his head, correcting his thoughts. Who was he that this was all he thought about? Maybe it was that he was getting older, no longer the pup he had always been?

"I'm sure you will and you will do a great job." Her hopes of becoming Gamma had been crushed by her injuries but she was alright with just being a subordinate and there was always next year. She had heard that Dagyr had won the tounament not by fighting but by choice of the Alphess leaving Ahote to take Gamma. She thought about Ahote recently she had seen him sneak off to who knew where but he looked like he didn't want to be seen then she had seen him come back during the night with the scent of the taiga on him.
She had thought long and hard about that with all her free time as she cared about her friends dearly. She had peiced together that he must have been sneaking off to meet someone from another pack and the only yagi she knew of to be in the Taiga was the Czarina Seven. And unless she was mistaken that must have been where he went and who he had gone to see. She had loved him for a brief few days at the thought that he had saved her life but that had worn off as now she knew he must be seeing someone else. She still had yet to find someone who loved her and a Yagi at that. So far the only male Yagi's she had met had been Dagyr and Ahote. She had taken a liking to both but she knew that Ahote was not the one she wanted as a mate and that left Dagyr and unless another male Yagi dropped in anytime soon she didn't have a large selection to choose from.
She paused, deep in thought. The male in front of her was intelligent, strong, sensitive, loving and caring. A male any female could hope for but she would not speak out yet. She would like to get to know him better and then like many say, Good things come to those who wait.
