Lystic...
What a sweet name! The air seemed to tremble as the delicate-looking wolf spoke it, more of a prayer than anything else.
Lystic... Lystic... Lystic!
Green eyes closed against the midday sun. Light tail raised, long ears, a nick marring one, laying flat. The butterfly wings that graced paws of brightest blue, dusty yellow and swirling black, fluttered slowly, lethargically. Black fur seemed to absorb the heat. It was too hot! But still, he stood, lost in grief.
Sweetest, dearest, most beloved, where are you? Are you sleeping? Are you waking? Who do you belong to? That brute? That bastard? That awful disgrace of nature? Are there pups to play at your paws?
Lystic, Lystic, Lystic...
A faint rustle of wind, seeming to say the name back.
Lystic? Lystic? She's dead, dead, dead! Finally killed 'er, 'e did, 'killed her dead! Killed her dead! Punishment for seeing you! Love? No love! No more love! None for Lystic! Lystic? Lystic?
Hermes Ashwood opened his eyes partially, refusing to hear the wind. He knew his Lystic was still alive somewhere. The scar on his nose, the nick in his ear, the ache he sometimes felt in his lame foreleg... they all assured him of her safety, if not her happiness. Somewhere in the pits of his heart was that true, deep love that assured him of this.
But miles and miles separated them. Wanderings, late nights in another wolf's den, fights, starvation, fatigue, depression, all of this separated them. And, most of all, nature's greatest weapon. Time.
"Time heals, but also rots. Love saves, but also corrupts. Everything has a twisted double side." Hermes hissed this through his teeth.
In the past few days, he had discovered the damp underside to the rock of his life, and all the worms were squirming out onto his paws, eating away his flesh. He wanted nothing more than to replace the damned thing, go back to living his happy, normal life, but his curiosity held him there, staring at his own bones with sick fascination.
There had been nobody to talk to. Inactivity led to thinking. Thinking led to depression. He longed for a friendly paw to push the rock back into place, to right his life. However, whenever he tried to imagine such a face, he only had one image come to mind.
Lystic, Lystic, Lystic...

[scrolly:h(260),w(420),sy] Kasmira trotted along the beautiful prairie, making bursts of colorful flowers grow here and there using her Lupuse earth abilities. Smiling to herself, she enjoyed the heat and sun for a couple moments, humming a bright tune to herself. She trotted along, her bright purple fur a beacon of friendship to anyone that came near. Her bright green eyes scanned the prairie, when she noticed a desolate looking black wolf.
Intrigued, she held her tail up high as a gesture of openness, and approached the unknown wolf. Alright, some conversation! the positive youngster thought to herself. " Hello! And how are you on this fine summer day? I am Kasmira, a storyteller for the Children." she kept her tone light and friendly, as usual. Still slightly humming to herself, she smiled warmly at the new wolf, as several more flowers, red, purple, blue, orange, pink and yellow, appeared at her feet, adding even more brightness to the sunny day.[/scrolly]

Hermes turned to regard the newcomer with a blank stare. Such cheer and happiness. The scent and the voice said "female" to him, but his heart churned angrily in his chest, blocking off his usual smooth attitude. He was in no mood to woo anyone at the moment.
"Hello, Kasmira," he said politely, if not particularly poetic or sexy, "My name is Hermes Ashwood, Messanger of the Balkimir Yikaxy Empire, and, to answer you're question truthfully, I've had better days. But that's not your problem, so don't worry. And yourself?"
He studied Kasmira with a dulled interest. She was pretty, but pretty was a general term for him. If it was female, it was pretty. He searched his mind and heart for the old spark that found the deep inner beauty in every girl he gazed upon, but it seemed he found only ashes of the great fire that had once burned within him. At the moment, everything was just pretty. Nothing more, nothing less.

[scrolly:h(170),w(400),sy] To be honest Stone did not particularly feel right not being in her pack lands and present to help protect her fellow members, but the day beaconed and exploring was the subject of today's muse. Early in the morning she had left and she now found her self in the unclaimed land of the Yuliterra Prairie, a common ground where on there'd be no fear of trespassing. Her gem blue eyes shone brightly against her dull grey and green fur, the contrast between the two rather striking. It reflected her personality; a calm exterior and level headed mind that could become passionate if for the right reasons.
Trotting along calmly she passed through the Prairie, sniffing at errant smells. The getaway from the activity in her new pack was quickly becoming a relaxing experience, and her muscles soon relaxed as she cleared her mind of all thought. With all her friends at her side she could still feel the tug of loneliness, a constant caress of darker times against her heart reminding her of how quickly things could be lost. With a shudder she pushed the thought and feelings aside, reclaiming her calm mind.
Soon she came across a pair of the wolves, one she recognized as Kas, the bright and vivacious storyteller from the children that she'd almost thought to kill when thinking she was threatening her friend and ally Magispar. However, as it had turned out the purple wolf was most trust worthy and easy to get along with. She did not however recognize the male and trotted calmly up to the pair, giving a slight yip of warning. Warmly she greeted Kas, "Hello Kas, it has been a while since we last met? I hope you've been getting along well." Glancing over at the colorful sprouting of flowers she added, "I must compliment you on your fine canvas, the colors are as bright as your disposition."
With a slight smile she turned her head to gaze at the other wolf, his air holding a slight gloom to it. Curious as she was she refrained from pointing out the obvious and instead said in a mildly friendly voice, "Hello, I don't believe we've met. My name is Keinvarii, but feel free to call me Stone. I am a member of the Philia Alliance." She looked at the male, slight concern barely concealed on her face. She could almost feel the energy, and though she did not understand nor could she out a reason to it, she felt saddened. Who was this wolf?[/scrolly]

Hermes now turned his gaze to the next wolf who appeared. Another female. Old Hermes would have been rolling in the flowers with joy at this scene, but Present Hermes simply offered a light smile.
"Stone. What an interesting nickname." he said, "How did you come across that?" A sudden flicker of old Hermes sprung into his chest and he added, with lowered eyelids and a curl of a smile, "You look far too light and graceful to have such a heavy name." This said, Present Hermes took his place back, and the curling smile disappeared, although the lids stayed lowered as the blank-hearted wolf stared at his paws.
((OOC: Sorry for the crappy post. I dunno where my muse went today....))

[scrolly:h(200),w(405),sy] ooc; We are continuing on Kas, but never fear for we eagerly await your posts. So not trying to exclude, just moving along.
bic; Stone blinked, her sapphire blues eyes temporarily displaying surprise. She was unaccustomed to compliments, and to receive one from such an odd male caught her off guard. Staring into his green eyes she quickly scanned for any sign of mockery, but she did not detect any and relaxed slightly. She gave a slow smile and decided a demonstration would tell a lot more then words.
With a slight roll of her shoulders she moved back from the two wolves, an intense look of concentration on her face. The ground was caught with light tremors as a liquid and shiny substance emerged from the ground and snaked rapidly around her body, solidifying into a mass of crystal quartz, her latest power prowess. Her new morphed ability to control the molecular structure of the stone substance was amusing, useful but very taxing and she had only managed to use quartz as colors or more complex structures such as diamonds took too much energy.
She moved her body strolling closer to Hermes and said as her skin glittered slightly under the sun, "They call me Stone because I am hard core and able to coerce the element of stone to my liking. Let's just say I make a great ally, and a greater foe." Backing off slightly she let her amour slip and spoke once more in a solidly smooth voice, "If I heard correctly your names is Hermes; a messenger if I am correct? Or are you the one that can guide a soul into the darkest pits of the Underworld? A messenger of hope...or of despair. An interesting name to say the least." She smiled letting her self sit down and regain her energy levels; Stone disliked keeping them anywhere but at max.

Sorry about taking so long, it's been a busy couple weeks! [atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,false][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd415/Somatra1/kback.jpg]
[scrolly:h(260),w(420),sy]The Lupuses's green eyes followed Stone's and Herme's conversation, noticing the subtle flirt of Hermes with a smile: Good, she thought to herself, Stone should find happiness with someone. Maybe with him? And come to think of it, Hermes could do with some cheer also... Kasmira wasn't a meddler, but she did hope whatever this exchange was worked out for the better. " Hello Stone, and thank you for the compliment. It's become a bit of a habit now...."
Kasmira knew that a compliment from her friend Stone was definitely a true and honest one, and was honored that the she-wolf had given her one. Kas watched Stone's armor, amazed by the fluidity it still allowed her. " That's beautiful, Stone. I'm sure it comes in handy when fighting too." she said to Stone. Since they were all on the name topic, Kasmira added: "Well, my mother told me that Kasmira means to command peace. I suppose it fits." Smiling, the Lupuse waited for what might happen next.[/scrolly]

He had to admit, now that he had begun to make new allies he was becoming a rather colorful social butterfly. Were his parents as social when they were at their prime? His past began to concern him.
Completely lost in thought he continued on, why did he rush off that day? What was his former pack like? Crow felt a queasy feeling in his gut. Did he have brothers or sisters? Were his parents still alive? And if they were, why weren't they looking for him all this time? Too many questions, and too much time to think about it all.
There has got to be something for me to do to distract my now distraught mind.. then he perked his ears up. Some other wolves, and not too far off by the sounds of it. Picking up the pace he felt the dry grassy plains underneath each pressing step.
When he got to the top of a slope he saw them and panted slowing down so as not to look like someone in a hurry. When he was sure they saw him he bowed his head and replied "H-hi... I'm Crow..." he panted, his tongue lolling out of his maw. [/scrolly] | |
