Steadily, she maneuvered her body just right to be able to slip past the pouring clear liquid. As pretty as it was, it could also be treacherous if one became stuck beneath it. In that case, the waterfall would drag one to their doom, as at the bottom awaited sharp stones that would pierce through even the thickest pelt. It was good that the Barn Swallow Myou knew how to get herself past it, for she did not want to fall to her death, especially with the new rank she had been given.
Her black talons scrambled at the precious rock of the cavern as she pulled herself onto it. She tucked her wings in at her sides and entered the cavern, using the small skylights as a guide to return to her den. She was the new Gamma Female of the pack and, though not used to the rank just yet, she had been working hard to show that she was worthy of holding it. The memories of Lyta getting taken away by that Griffin still haunted her and she wished it hadn't have happened like that. She wanted to fight the feisty little female, even though she had an advantage with her Tim Warp powers. Lyra didn't even show up, having injured herself beforehand and it disqualified her. She was disappointed as to how her rank fight had gone, but she had to position and she was glad she had gotten it.
Sandralina sighed, making her way around the cavern to return to her den for the day. As nice as it was outside and as much work as she should have been doing, she had exhausted herself over the last several days. She had upped her own patrols and caused herself to become really tired. Estoni was forcing her to take a break today and the second soul wouldn't leave her be until she did. The little bird could be annoying when she wanted to be, and she did so just to make the female go relax in her den and get some sleep. It wasn't long before she found the little stream near the back of the cave, meaning her den was just beside it. It was a sight for sore eyes when she spotted the small aclove she had claimed, causing her to make her way towards it quickly. She was glad Estoni had made her return.
The older Myou entered her little den and stood upon her bed of dry grasses, circling it a few times before she laid down. She rested her head on the bed and sprawled her wings out to full size. Her tail did the same, stretching to make themselves feel a little better. The darkness of her small den comforted her and it began to lull her to sleep. As she peered through the entrance, trying to remain conscious for as long as she could, she watched the gems of the cavern sparkle and glitter. The rays of the sun that peeked through the small holes in the cavern roof caused them to shine in such a way and it made her smile. The gems were doing the same on the inside of her den, illuminated by what little light there was in her small nesting area. Slowly, it wasn't long before her amber eyes fell closed and she drifted off into sleep.

[scrolly:h(437), w(340),sy] The sky was the limit as the black keiyou flew, soaring through the clouds as he dipped his wings, diving at breakneck speeds only to pull up and regain height. He had been reviewing his diving speeds over the course of the day to ensure that proper maneuver could be performed at a moment's notice. His cold steel eyes surveyed the hot ground beneath him, scanning for anything of interest as the wind tousled the white fur adorning his neck.
From far bellow the flash of light reflecting off a pair of wings drew his eyes and he watched as the brief movement flickered away, the wolf or bird disappearing into a cavern. Licking his chops he could only hope it was a bird, unsuspecting of the predator that circled the sky. He sniffed at the air, but was too high up to catch scent of the animal.
Narrowing his eyes he judged the distance between his own body and the opening, calculating eyes summed up the required velocity and angle to make a smooth entrance and then plunged. Folding his large wings into his side the Keiyou dove without restrain, twirling as the rushing air blew across his ears. The ground came near him rapidly and before hitting soil he unfolded his wings abruptly and pushed forward with his hind legs, propelling his body past the crashing waterfall in one fluid movement.
It took a couple seconds for his eyes to grow used to the darkness and he paused, his body blocking out some of the light at the entrance. When he finally grew accustomed to the lighting he saw not but what appeared to be dens and no sign of his potential prey. Nose to the ground he sniffed about, his talons making small clicking noise against the rock as his slim tail snaked back and forth. There were simply too many other scents to detect a potential source of nourishment and he growled low, angered at the waste of time.
Pawing at the rock he moved to stand by the river and lapped at the water to alleviate his dry throat. How unamusing, he thought, a complete waste of my time. Glancing about Valkyrie decided to take a break when from under a boulder a rat made its appearance. Pupils narrowing the Keiyou waited without making a movement for the rodent to come closer and leapt into the air, landing with his talons deep within the creature's throat. A rustic grunt of approval rumbled in his throat as his teeth neatly sliced through the flesh as he proceeded to devour his catch. [/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,422,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb390/Bluewillowtree/Sandramid.jpg]Her dark colored ears twitched when she heard something along the lines of someone entering the cave. It had woken her up, yes, but there was really no reason for her to get out of bed just yet. After all, she had only gotten a few lovely minutes of rest and Estoni was yelling for her to return to sleep. She yawned, feeling tired enough to sleep but not seeming to have to motivation to continue laying down. She wondered what she wanted to do next, then noticed her throat was particularly dry. She supposed it would happen whenever sleep came to her, all of the moisture would leave her throat.
Sandralina sighed, deciding to stand up and stretch out her aching limbs. Besides, whoever was making so much noise out there probably wouldn't have allowed her to fall back asleep again. She slowly walked out of her den and made way to the stream that she had visited before entering her den. She didn't notice the male sitting there and eating, as her amber eyes were blurred and half closed. She wasn't really paying attention to where she was going. Her eyes widened in surprise when her body suddenly jerked as she tripped over the male, tumbling on his back and then rolling head over heels towards the water. It wasn't too long before she found herself in the water, upside down.
The Myou flailed her wings and limbs until she managed to flip over, laying there in the water and staring at the male who she had tripped over. She was hoping it would be someone she could get along with, but no. That wasn't it at all! She had to get stuck with the cocky Keiyou named Valkyrie. That in itself irked her. She didn't particularly like the male, no matter HOW good looking he was, and they didn't really get along. He acted as though when they first met that he could control her, that she was inferior to him. Bah! She'd show him and, at that point, she realized she could. A sly grin made its way onto her face. She was gamma now. He had not choice but to respect her. Not like she was going to hurt him or anything.
She pulled herself out of the water and shook herself off, freeing her feathers and her fur of the little water droplets lingering on them. Her fur drooped and was practically flattened because she had been in the water too long. She sighed with slight irritation and her tail feathers twitched. She looked at him. "Afternoon, Valkyrie. Any reason you decided to lay in the middle of the floor? Were you trying to trip your gamma on purpose or what?" She was aware that she would receive a smart ass reply from him, just as she often had when she had first met him. Sandralina waited patiently for an answer, knowing very well what was coming to her. She was ready, though. Oh, she was ready.

[scrolly:h(437), w(340),sy] Lying on the stone cold floor and munching on his fat prey Valkyrie was just starting to think it had not been such a waste of time to visit the cave. The air was moist, but at least it was cool and the lack of sunlight helped to alleviate the usual burn on his pelt. However, it was not long before he was once again proved that being on the land was simply not a reasonable idea and led to unfortunate accidents; caused by other wolves of course.
He came to realize what was happening simply too late to prevent it, and toppling upon him was another wolf who not only proceeded to attempt to flatten him but also gave a try at drowning as they fell in the river, soaking the male Keiyou. Growling warily he jumped up, fluttering his wings defensively and landed a safe distance away, shaking himself violently out. He simply did not care for getting wet against his wishes. Actually, he cared not for doing anything against his wishes and the individual that had so clumsily disregarded the possibility that another wolf may be in their presence was highly irritating.
Cold eyes frosting over Valkyrie prepared himself to discipline the clumsy responsible oaf when he heard the wolf speak and had to prevent himself from groaning in exasperation. With a definitive snap he clamped his jaws together, eyes narrowing in distaste. Luck would have it that the responsible would be the disreputable Sandra. And it was not to his surprise that the she wolf should blame the victim but it was however much to his great disdain that he heard her usher the words Gamma.
The battle strategy needed to be rectified and although this certainly complicated matters it changed very little. Valkyrie had the habit of influencing his superiors to see his point of view, eventually leading them to believe they had thought up plans all on their own and watching them gloat over their note worthy brilliance. Yes indeed, this changed very little.
Valkyrie stalked his way over, his talons making metallic clicking noises on the rock. In a bland and disinterested voice he forced himself to reply, "Oh my apologies Gamma..." With a barely perceptible sneer he added, "Lucky for us wet fur dries." The Myou somehow managed to retain her lovely appearance even when wet, a rather rare gift that played homage to the level of her beauty. A shame, he mused, a right shame considering the rest. Raising a brow he decided to get right to the point as he had never been the sort to prance around the bush, "So is this how it is to be? You may have my word that the use of a rank title to impress or command respect is simply not necessary. I had rather hoped we had moved past such a point, but alas I suppose not." He stared at her with his cool gaze, sitting calmly.
"However, I will offer you my congratulations as I suppose is warranted. I sure hope a Gamma's duty does not involve tripping over rather innocent bystanders, I would not enjoy making this a routine." A very dry smile barely tugged at his maw, giving the impression of a solemn yet crooked grin. He rolled his shoulders back, a lean yet muscled figure barely perceptible in the darkness. He was not the type of wolf laden with heavy and burdening muscles, his were earned from hard work and fighting, and though they were not as distinguished they allowed him to move with a calm, composed and deadly grace that did not hinder his flight. Valkyrie required these muscles to fly as his extended wing span was heavier then most and though it afforded him higher speeds and increased power it also cost him a lot of energy. He kept his wings folded at his sides and even so they made him appear as large at the bulkier lupus when not flying.

Other than being able to cool down, it was washing off all of the crusted dirt that was in her fur. It was a nice thing, to be clean. Her excessive patrolling had caused her to become filthy and she almost forgot how important it was to take care of herself as well as the pack. She sighed, realizing she had sort of let herself go. Her nose twitched when she smelled the dead rat that he had been eating. Though it was not her favorite animal to eat, the very scent of it made her stomach growl audibly. Her skin flamed in embarrassment. Her head ached as she tried to think of the last time she had fed herself. She was surprised when she remembered the last time she had a bite was yesterday morning. She sighed again.
She decided to get to her feet and step out of the water, feeling uneasy when he seemed to look her over again. She tried to remain focused on his cold voice, wondering why she just had to provoke such a reaction out of him. Yes, wet fur did dry out, but she didn't feel quite like stepping outside and letting the sun do the work for her. She did not want to face that heat again. Instead, a coy smile made its way onto her lips and she stepped closer to Valkyrie, shaking her body violently to rid herself of the water. Her intention was to spray him and soak him further, especially after he had shaken himself out. She giggled and took a few paces away, opening her wings and flapping them to dry herself off. She listened further to his words, only wanting to laugh at them.
"I wasn't trying to command respect from you, Valkyrie. I know you're smart enough to give respect on your own. It was just simply a way to tell you of my new position." Why Sandra even wanted to tell him, she would probably never know. It was a strange thing. She didn't like the male much at all, but he seemed to be somewhat decent when it came to respecting authority. That was what a good wolf should do. Besides, it was pack rule that all lower ranks must respect the higher ranks. She though that maybe that was the reason she had told him. She felt as though she wanted to rub it in or something, show him that in a way she was better than he was. She decided not to say anything on that matter, though. It would be rude.
He spoke once more, congratulating her on the win, though it didn't really seem like he meant it. However, that was just the tone in his voice that Sandra seemed to hear whenever she spoke to him. He just appeared to be the type to not like females in high positions or those females who were...not as good of listeners like most. To Sandra, it seemed like he expected all females to be inferior to males no matter what. That wasn't the case, as the pack was ruled by a female. She gave a light sigh, shaking her head. Her amber gaze tried to meet his cold one and she offered him a smile. "No, I won't make it a habit. I wasn't really paying attention to where I was going. However, I could single you out and trip over you every day. Or push you into the river. Your choice." Her voice was teasing, as she was in a light hearted mood. She was in a much better mood than she had been when they first met, for her tournament fight was over.

[scrolly:h(437), w(340),sy] When the pest, as he had started to refer to her himself, removed herself from the water only to spray him again he growled smoothly, apparent irritation demonstrated by his creased brow and swinging tail. Pouncing backward he opened his wings and flapped them with force, propelling himself into the air with a strong gust and landing on a small ledge a few feet higher then the Myou. Claws extended he grasped the small ledge, tail swinging to help him keep balance.
Would there be no mercy? He rolled his eyes in a silent plea to end this tyranny. There was a small tick in his lower eyelid as he stared hotly at the female and he unconsciously ran one razor claw along the smooth surface of the ledge. The extent to which individuals would go to annoy others never ceased to amaze the Keiyou. "Indeed...We shall see about that." Valkyrie's voice echoed off the cavern walls, a strong vibration that ran like liquid ice from the deepest of mountain springs.
Jumping back down he marched toward the small entrance, for after all his movements were precise and wasted no energy, and sat blocking the light rather purposely as the fall cascaded behind him. Was this female teasing him? Such a thought was rather out of the ordinary, on the whole completely ridiculous and downright preposterous. As far as he was aware they were on mutual grounds of dislike...but perhaps the strategy would once again require altering. True, some did respond better to milder and silly tactics of banter, perhaps this Sandra was one of them.
He moved once again, his manner mildly stalking as he strode back up to her to stand tall, silver frosted eyes unwaveringly meeting warm amber ones. The contrast was striking, and the gold flecks in Sandra's were so alluring the words he was about to say got caught in his throat, if but for a second. Snapping his jaws shut he recovered, breaking contact and finally spoke, "As much fun," once again there was a tick, "as that sounds I must decline such a generous offer. Though I doubt you could manage to succeed in pushing me into the river and I can guarantee that I shall not be caught off guard again, even by such a quiet stalker."
Valkyrie had indeed heard the Myou's stomach growl in hunger, but had tactfully chosen to ignore it and avoid an awkward situation. However he now added on the side, "I have not had the chance to finish my catch, it is yours should you wish it, consider a tiny token of apology for my previous behavior." He walked away once again, staring at her with a sidelong glance. What had caused him to offer an apology was beyond him, he only offered such words to those males he had considered he had been in the wrong with...Musing he supposed he should attempt to find his head and regain his footing on such a treacherous path.
Moreover he was but a male, and it was illogical to consider himself above the physical attraction that undeniably resulted when a male wolf saw a female wolf with desirable traits. Therefor his footing would have to be especially strict as to not allow his animal nature to be take charge and ruin his valuable efforts at behavior modification.

The least he could do was not be so uptight about everything. It made him come off as a cold hearted jerk and that was one of the many things that prevented even good relationships with other wolves. Sure, he obviously respected those higher in rank than him, which was about normal, but he just didn't seem like the type who had any kind of friend. She pitied him for that and suddenly just wanted to sit beside him and see if he wanted to talk. She almost wanted to get to know him better, but she shook her head at the thought, wondering what had gotten into her. Before this, she hadn't even wanted to be near the male. He had given her such a bad impression the first time that she didn't care to see him again. What was different?
Their gazes met and his words seemed to get caught in his throat before he recovered quickly. He politely declined her offer of her pushing him into the river, then stated that he didn't think she could do it. Her ears flattened at that statement and she felt a slight sense of her pride dented right there. She had obtained the Gamma rank, yet he still seemed to believe he was better than her. She gave a light snort as he walked to the entrance and sat, offering her the last bit of his catch. Her stomach growled at her again and she turned on a dime, snatching the remnants of the rat up in her jaws. She tore the rest of the meat from it, devouring it easily. It was only a matter of moments before what was left of the rat was completely gone, devoured by the barn swallow myou.
Sandralina shook her pelt gently once more and made her way over to the male, coming to a stop beside him. She stood there for a long moment, looking over him, wanting to comfort him in some way. He seemed like he needed it, like there was something in his mind haunting him. She couldn't be sure, of course, but she was not on a mission to make him change, to make him just a little softer. Perhaps even a little kinder. She just wanted him to see the brighter side of things. An idea came to her head and, though it might not have been the brightest of ideas, she was going to do it anyways. "You know, Valkyrie...you should lighten up just a tad. You're not going to make many friends with how uptight you are. Also..." She paused a moment. "...You shouldn't underestimate me."
In a flash, she kicked off the ground beneath her and tucked her wings in. She barreled into his side, intending to take them both off the edge of the opening. She dropped through the open air and turned to look back up at him, but she became distracted suddenly when the roar of the waterfall became too close for comfort. Her amber eyes glanced and widened at how close she was to the rushing water. In a frenzy, she opened her wings and flapped them hard, attempting to escape the pull of the water. That was her biggest mistake. Opening her wings gave the waterfall something to grab onto and pull on more. It sucked her faster to the bottom and sprayed her. She was under the waterfall all of a sudden, being beat down by the heavy liquid. She flailed and let out a scared squawk, trying to escape the force of it.

ooc: powerplay with the whole saving from the waterfall with permission from Moonrose I believe
Valkyrie watched with cool satisfaction as the pest of a bird ate his small offering. His attempt at being social, as poor as it may have seemed, was higher then his usual standards and he sat content. Actually, he could not help but wonder what he was still doing here, as far as his logical mind was concerned his business was done and he should be moving out, returning to the skies to patrol. However, something held him back be it the change in disposition of his acquaintance or the cool interior of the cavern. He opted for the second deduction for it was simply not feasible to him that it should be option number one.
He watched with disguised trepidation as Sandra approached him, torn between moving away or staying. He chose to stay for he was simply not one to flee on the principle of the matter. He could feel her gaze on him, and it struck him as odd that it should feel hotter then the sun's rays, once again more ridiculous notions. Valkyire was starting to believe their must be something wrong with the water, for there was no other plausible reason for his irrational thoughts and Sandra less reserved exterior. That comforting thought made him feel a bit better about the matter, though it was not long before his mind over rode that false sense of security.
Then it happened, the thought to rule all thoughts; it should be that Valkyrie was starting to think that perhaps this bird was not all that bad and that his judgment had been a tad harsh. He barely managed to repress a shudder for composure's sake. Then Sandra's words came to rescue him from his own device; he needed to lighten up in order to make friends. The notion was above words, and he chuckled out loud, a deep a smooth rumble that was not loud but was spoke volumes coming from such a serious fellow.
Before he could dismiss such a concept verbally he noticed a sudden change in the Myou's voice and watched with narrowed pupils as the female leaped at him in what appeared to be a mad dash to knock him of the edge of the cliff. She's trying to kill me he thought madly. Moving swiftly aside in a tuck and roll he felt the Myou brush against his side, making his roll seem a little lopsided. He watched on in consternation as she plummeted toward the deadly falls. He gave a cry of alarms when she opened her wings, thereby sealing her fate.
Not one to panic in emergencies, which was one of the reasons he made such a good soldier, his mind went deadly calm and the scene seemed to unfold in slow motion before his eyes. He would be damned if he would watch this beautiful female die in front of his eyes and with that he threw himself into the air, beating his wings furiously. His muscles, trained to endure strain rippled with tension as he felt the pull of the fall but he rose higher, only to pull his wings in and dive at Sandra, talons extended. He had no doubt that this maneuver could go wrong, but then again there was also probability it could work.
He felt his claws close around the Myou's hind legs, not piercing but latching on with a solid grip. The force of the fall pushed them strait down rapidly, the force of the fall countering the force of the water and as they fell he opened his wings if but a little angling them so that the air would push them against the cliff. And so they went, Valkyrie twisting so that the cliff hit his side with a powerful crash. There was no time to inspect the damage now though and he pushed off, pitching himself and the Myou out from under the waterfall and into the clear air. His side hurt where the rock had slammed into his ribs and the added weight did not help so he attempted to fly to the ground succeeding in dropping the last couple of feet only to land in a misshapen heap.
And that is where he lay, not entirely sure what had happened but excessively glad to have succeeded. He could not be sure why, but seeing Sandra loose her life would hurt him more then he might have anticipated. Relief was about the only emotion that pierced the stabbing pain from his side. Valkyrie was sure his ribs were not broken, but he knew there would be some bruising. Glancing over he said between clenched teeth to ward off the pain, "Are you ok?" He did not realize it, but the first sign of emotion was showing in his eyes; concern and care.

She had leaped after the male and had missed, then began plummeting to the bottom of the falls. Her heart beat frantically in her chest, fluttering against her ribcage like a trapped bird. Estoni squealed in the back of her mind, shouting at her to move faster and flap her wings harder. Anything to get her out of the force of the waterfall. However, the force and the power was too great and she couldn't seem to maneuver well enough to get herself out from beneath the water. She just needed one moment where she had the chance to catch open air, not the water. It was much too late, though, and she was aware that she had already sealed her own fate. She knew then and there, that if she was not pulled out, she was going to die.
Sandra had swallowed much water and had even breathed some in, but then she felt some type of fear mixed with relief when her hind legs were grasped onto. All she was aware of next was the water being gone over her head, then a smash into stone, then more falling. Everything was a blur before her eyes and she couldn't make much sense of anything. There was clear air, then an impact to the ground. It hurt only a little as she skidded to a stop. She laid there for a moment and coughed violently, hacking up all of the water from her lungs and possibly her stomach. It exhausted her and she was limp for several moments, staring into nothingness. There was still a watery, blurry film resting over her eyes and she blinked several times to rid herself of it. Only then did she see Valkyrie laying beside her, obviously hurt.
It was with a sudden realization that she knew he had saved her life and she was suddenly grateful, but she also knew he was hurt. She was in pain as well, physically exhausted and filthy from that whole ordeal, but she was more concerned about his well being. She ignored his words for a moment and wobbled to her feet, wings dragging on the ground at her sides as she made her way over to him. Her legs gave way and she collapsed, then wiggled her way to press herself against him. She wanted to make sure he was all right. Her nose nuzzled his cheek gently and she drank in his scent. For a moment, she lost herself in that moment, enjoying being so close to him. Her heart jumped and she was brought back to reality. She mentally cursed herself for thinking that way and focused her amber eyes on his face.
Sandralina nuzzled his cheek once more, showing her gratitude. "I am fine...battered, but fine... You're hurt..." It was obvious the girl was short on breath, still not having fully recovered from the experience just yet. Sure, she had been through worse before, but she was concerned about him and everything had happened too quickly. Her mind didn't process it as easily as it should have and it gave her a headache. She lifted her head slightly and glanced over his body. Other than appearing a little wet from getting so close to the waterfall, he seemed fine. However, that didn't mean there wasn't bruising. She had heard him impact against the wall of stone and she knew that no one would escape from that without at least a bruise. "We need to get you up to the dens. You need to rest."

Valkyrie lay on the hot ground, eyes closed as he mentally attempted to sort out what to do next. Evidently they both needed to find a spot to rest, but he did not feel inclined to fly. He opened his eyes and saw that from the disheveled look of his companion, neither did she. What Valkyrie was not expecting was the close proximity of the Myou and had he retained enough energy he might have jumped out of the way.
However he did not, and he watched Sandra make her way over before collapsing, whether from the weight of her wet wings or from simple exhaustion he could not tell. It was with a great level of shock that he felt the female press up alongside of him, luckily avoiding his bruised ribs, but it was with a large splash of consternation that he realized he was not opposed to the contact. He remained deathly still, as if frozen in fear of this show of emotion. Valkyrie not only dismissed emotions as useless feelings that hindered one's clear thinking but also feared them for they seem to spurn odd actions and serve as catalysts for dangerous consequences.
Her fur felt soft against his own sleek pelt, and the caress of her nose was not like any other, resembling the feel of cool silk on a hot day. Her words barely pierced through the haze that had begun to ensnare his reasoning, resulting from the combination of scents that were emanating from Sandra. A mixture of water and dirt marred the surface, but from under that cover came the pleasing mixture of open air and hot sun against drying grass, the smell sweet and wholesome but also speaking of spirit and the freedom of open sky.
Valkyrie did not think, his instincts took over and he adjusted himself to sit closer returning the nudge with a gentle bump of his head to her shoulder. He rested his head across her shoulders, the warmth of their two bodies fighting the cold of the waterfall as the sun began to dry him off. In a fluid voice that was no longer icy he said, "No need to worry about me, I have had worse and it is but bruising."
Valkyrie attempted to get up, succeeding in heaving himself up and gingerly spreading his wings out to stretch. A small wrinkle between his brows appeared, the pain had lessened but would be aggravating for some time. "Perhaps a rest would be a good idea, for the both of us." He had yet to regain his composure and his caring nature was yet still visible, Valkyrie remaining mildly oblivious to the fact.

She didn't want to move away from him and she was confused at these foreign feelings. She wanted them to go away, they caused the churning in her stomach and the heating of her skin. It made it hard to breathe and her chest ached as her heart beat too quickly, straining to keep her blood flowing. Her mind was slowly being covered by an unbreakable fog that clouded her judgment. She knew she didn't want to be near him at all, as she still didn't like the male, but there was just something there that was stopping her from moving away. It was doing to opposite to her. It made her want to be closer to him and it made her want to stay there.
She didn't flinch, but watched as he moved himself to nudge her shoulder, then rest his head across both of her shoulder. Though the contact and the weight was a tad strange, she enjoyed it somehow. She didn't want him to move, she just wanted to lay there and fall asleep. Instead, however, he moved himself to a standing position, pulling his body heat away from her. She suddenly felt cold and missed the touch. Her skin flamed as she thought of such things, though she didn't understand why. Perhaps she was starting to like the male more than she had realized, but that wasn't possible. Sandra wasn't one to like jerks like him, but he seemed different right there. His voice had changed. It was not icy and cold anymore, it was...caring in a way, warm if you will.
Her ears flattened and she frowned when she saw his brow crease with the pain. She felt horrible. She was the one who had caused this. She was Gamma, she should have been more mature than that, but her childish nature had got a hold of her and she made a stupid move, which caused her life to be saved by the male she had despised only moments ago. Sighing, she managed to heave herself to her feet, not nearly as unstable this time. It just took a moment to steady herself a little better. She shook out her pelt again, spraying what remaining droplets of water there was on her furs. She was pretty much dry now. Her amber eyes looked at the male, glittering with apology. She voiced this emotion, feeling utterly horrid for what she did, "I'm so sorry... If I hadn't have been so stupid, you wouldn't be hurt. This is all my fault."
Sandra took one pace towards the male and lifted her head, craning it just right so she could reach his. She stuck out her pale pink tongue and gently swiped it over his ear several times, letting him know she was thankful and sorry for what she had done. It was so sudden that she realized what she was doing and she pulled away abruptly, turning her head in embarrassment. 'Why do I feel this way?' Estoni giggled, "I think you like him!!!" She snorted at the second soul, shaking her head slightly. Oh, how Estoni made it seem like she was talking to herself. She sighed and glanced at Valkyrie, who said rest would be good for the both of them. She nodded, "Yes...we should be in the dens so the griffins don't get us. Can you manage to fly up there?" She knew she'd be able to, but she was concerned if he could or not.

[scrolly:h(437), w(340),sy] Looking into the amber eyes of the female Valkyrie began to wonder why he had scorned this Myou so bitterly in the first place. His actions had seemed perfectly reasonable at the time, but now the logic seem to pale and peel away the longer he lost himself in the golden depth. Perhaps it was an enchantment, a deranged use of power...And yet such a feeble attempt at sorting out the affair seemed without meat, a mere skeleton of reasoning.
Ordinarily he would have harshly scorned such a rash action, degrading the individual so that they might never repeat the action again. But this was not what came to mind; the urge to comfort and alleviate guilt replaced his more soldier based instincts. He had regretted moving, but yet had thought it necessary though this try at finding some distance now seemed futile. The soft caress of Sandra's tongue on his ear brought a shudder of enraptured pleasure to Valkyrie as the male had not known such a tender action before. His interactions with females outside of business had been basic wolf instinct and that was how he thought he preferred such interactions.
But this was different, such a small gesture seemed to signify much more then such previous joinings ever had, a scary notion to the older Keiyou. With his own rougher tongue he licked slowly at her maw, letting her know without words that he simply did not instill any blame on her. A slight nuzzle to her ear was the last action he took before saying gruffly, "Don't worry about me. We just have to get you out of further harm's way."
With a rather high level of effort he manage to take off and fly toward the dens without grimacing. As he approached them he looked for signs of inhabitation and smelt out one that did not seem to be in use. The small cavern was slightly reclused from the others and rather impossible to get to without flight. Satisfied that it would provide appropriate cover Valkyrie flew in, talons grasping the edge as his wings folded back together. In he trotted wearily to circle about and settle in a comfortable position. The cave was still cool despite he sun and he lifted a wing, patting the spot under it to indicate that Sandra could lie there if she chose. I must be going senile, he thought to himself, or I am possessed, there is simply no other explanation for this. While he waited he asked, "What is your story Sandra?" The word were short, but Valkyrie had never cared to learn anyone else's history, and so they spoke more then a thousand could.

She wondered why she was worried. Sure, she was Gamma and it was part of her job to make sure that she knew and cared for each of the pack members, but even she found this behavior strange. The two had not gotten along whatsoever the first time they met and she had tried being nice this time, which ended in disaster. She had been in a bad mood the first time they had encountered and this time she tried to be decent, no matter how much her instinct told her she needed to dislike the male. Every nerve and muscle her in body was telling her to get away from him, avoid him, but her heart and mind told her differently.
Her fur pricked with a strange yet lovely feeling when his tongue ran over her maw. Though she knew the gesture was a simple response to her major apologies, she had to wonder why he wasn't scolding her. She was of higher rank, yes, and he was demanded to show her respect, but she wouldn't put it past him to scold her for her massive mistake. She listened as he told her not to worry about him, though it obviously wouldn't stop her from doing so, then said how she needed to get out of harm's way. The first thing that came to her mind was why he of all people wanted to get her out of harm's way, then she laughed at his statement. The snickering continued for a moment before she decided to explain that outburst. "Psh, whatever. I don't find trouble, trouble finds me."
Sandralina spread out her wings and took off after him, obviously finding it easier to fly than he did. She wasn't in as much pain, so she followed him closely to make him feel a little better about his situation. The girl was unfailingly kind practically all hours of the day. She watched as he landed, then entered the cool cave and settled himself down. His wing lifted and patted the spot beside him, a beckoning to her. For a moment, she didn't want to go near him and just sit there at the entrance. However, she wouldn't refuse and made way over to him, folding her wings at her side and settling on the ground snugly beneath his wing. She folded her paws over one another and leaned slightly against him, hesitant with the contact like he would push her away. His question almost stung her ears, as she hadn't expected it.
"My story...?" She echoed, wondering if she should tell him. "Well...I was born in a forest far from here to my purebred parents and I had a brother, a crocodile myou. My entire family's second souls were what would be considered evil and when I was born like this" She spat out the word, angry with how she had turned out, "I was seen as a disappointment. Naturally, my brother was more on the evil side of things and I was not. Barn swallows are just unfailingly happy...and I was beaten for it. My parents believed that if they beat me daily and could break me, then I would turn out like them. It never worked." Sandra paused to sigh, not liking to relive the memories. They were rather painful and she regretted what she had done in the end.
"I spent days upon days training to make myself stronger, hoping I could gain my parents respect. When I showed them the moves I had learned, moves that could kill someone in a single blow, they didn't care. I was about to be attacked and I fled up a tree. On a whim, I made the decision to leave. I told my brother I was sorry...and I was gone..." That was the part she regretted. She wished she hadn't have left her brother behind. "My brother and I loved each other, we were so close to one another, and I just...left him. I regret leaving him there with those monsters. I traveled around for a bit and then came here. Rhiannon accepted me, despite my shortcomings. I'm grateful to her that she accepts me for the hyperactive pest I am." She sighed, shaking her head to keep the tears away, then turned her head away from him so he wouldn't see them fall. "Now you know."

[scrolly:h(437), w(340),sy] ooc; powerplay with Moonrose's permission of course.
Valkyrie listened attentively to the first half of Sandra's story, irritated by the fact that being a bird Myou would cause a family shame. It did not make sense to him that an individual that could fly and not only kill from the sky but also from the ground would be considered useless. As for the sunny disposition, well he knew it could irritate beyond belief, but it certainly did not warrant beatings to any degree. Valkyrie prided himself on being able to reform characteristics without corporal punishment methods.
"Mhmm..." he added absent mindedly as he began to loose himself in thought, hearing and absorbing the words but drifting away in the sound of Sandra's voice. It was a despairing tail, but also one that certainly merited respect. His own history was not one of woe, he had chosen his path and he had followed it, plain, simple and strait forward. In fact he had joined his own regiment so young that he cold barely recollect his parents' faces let alone how he had grown up before enlisting. Fighting and the required military discipline that accompanied it was the only way of life Valkyrie knew, and the only way of life he liked.
The she-wolf's story had seemed to pain the myou to tell, and for that Valkyrie was grateful to have been graced with hearing it. He gave a quick but firm lick of his tongue along Sandra's cheek, perhaps as a show of comfort or perhaps to demonstrate his own gratitude. Either way it mattered not, for Valkyrie was indeed succumbing to slumber and his eyes felt much to heavy to keep open. And so the black keiyou rested his sleek head along his paws and drifted into a rather solid sleep.
The pair slept the afternoon away until the sun fell and left but a orange and purple glow in the distance.
Valkyrie awoke to darkness and confusion; he knew not where he was nor how he had managed to get there. Jumping up in alarm he successfully managed to smack his head against the hard stone roof of where he had been sleeping, coming away with stars in his eyes. His ribs hurt and he forced himself to remain still in an attempt to situate himself. Then it came flooding back, the memory of the day, the fall, the save, the crash and then...What then?
Shock greeted the Keiyou as he staggered towards to opening of the cliff, what had he done? It came back like a flurry of furious beating wings, the memory of the licks and nudges that he had not only received, but given and a small scowl of disdain and disbelief fell upon his face. Outside the stars had barely begun to show themselves in the receding glow of the sun and the landscape was painted in strokes of purple and deep blue with warm and rich highlights of gold but despite this peaceful scenery Valkyrie head remained a mass of confusion, and panic. And so he stood, frozen to the spot in fear of what was to come for not but a couple feet away lay Sandra.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,422,true] | [atrb=background,http://i1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb390/Bluewillowtree/Sandramid.jpg]His scent lingered in her nostrils as she watched him drift away into sleep once her story was finished. She gave a soft smile and leaned her head down some to lick and flatten the fur on top of his head. She blinked a few times, realizing sleep was beginning to take over her as well. She gave a light sigh and shuffled closer to him, pressing herself against his uninjured side, then laid her head on her paws as well, connecting their cheeks. She wasn't sure what was wrong with her. She didn't like him, right? Then, why was she acting this way? Why was she getting so close to him...and liking the feeling of their fur mingling? She did not understand this, and she just wanted it all to go away. But...she didn't want to leave his side. She wanted to stay right there, right beside him.
The pair slept the afternoon away until the sun fell and left but a orange and purple glow in the distance.
The rough sound of someone scrambling away woke her, not instantly though. It took a moment as she stirred, flaying her wings slightly and fluttering her eyes open. She had to blink multiple times to rid her gaze of the blurry film that covered them. Her amber eyes trailed about the dark cave until they reached the edge of the opening, where she spotted the one male she did not like to be around. Her lips twitched, beginning to curl over her gums in a snarl, then she saw the look on his face and her own expression returned to normal. A look of what seemed to be concern crossed over her face. She asked gently, "Valkyrie...are you all right?" Her voice was soft and kind, not something she would normally share with the male, especially like this.
She stumbled to her feet and took a few steps closer to him, coming to a stop when she realized something. Her heart was beating irregularly and she was going out of her way to be kind to him, the one she disliked greatly. She had a feeling she knew what was happening with her. As much as she wanted to deny it and as much as she wanted to yell at the male, she felt bad for wanting to do so. It was as though she was beginning to fall for the male. Stepping back, Sandralina shook her head violently to rid her mind of such thoughts. No! That was not possible. They didn't like each other in the slightest! However, the memory of them sitting so close together told her otherwise, and the things she had felt in sitting there with him. She almost wanted to do it again, had it not been for her stubborn self.
Sandralina quickly collected herself, despite the flaming blush that consumed her skin, and stalked away from him. She moved to the edge of the cave on his other side, taking a glance at the evening that approached before she shot him a glare. That glare faltered though as she watched him, feeling her breath catch and her heart beat very fast. She managed to stutter her sentence out, "I mean... What d-do you w-want?" She turned her head away with flattened ears, trying to focus on something other than him. Something was obviously wrong here and Estoni piped in, her gentle and high pitched voice shedding some light on this little mystery that had prevented itself inside the Myou's mind. 'I know you might not want to hear this, dear, but I think you might be falling in love with him~!'
The proposition horrified her.
