Vereine Talks , Vereine Thinks |
, Dupre Thinks It was clear that today was indeed a good day. Vereine felt oddly happy, as if nothing could bring his mood down. He could even sense that Dupre was feeling a little more positive than usual. As to why the unusual mood came about, the two hadn’t the slightest idea. It was quite the mood change, seeing as just a few days ago, the two weren’t exactly on speaking terms. That encounter with the other female… O-Osa-, no… Ott-Otter? No that wasn’t it either. Vereine felt the need to mentally kick himself for not being able to remember her name, but apparently that’s what happens when one’s second soul decides to rage and cause a mental blackout.
He was still in a daze, which might have played a role in his strange mood, so he wasn’t the most aware at the moment. The flooring was quite slippery, almost causing the myou to lose his footing a few times. It was if he’d woken up from a deep slumber, though, it surely felt like it, but alas that wasn’t the case. The male had been wondering about for some time after his little blackout, trying to collect his thoughts and hopefully grasp what had happen moments before. It wasn’t strange for Dupre to knock him out, (how he could, puzzled Vereine.) but it didn’t happen very often. He just assumed it was from exhaustion from the constant inner battle between the two, and never bothered to question it.
Seating himself next to the waterfall, he watched the clear liquid flow, glistening as traces of light bounced off it. His brain felt so boring, dull, silent. Well, it wasn’t completely silent, Dupre was humming softly in the back of his thoughts. The wolf snapped his head up at the realization. Dupre… why are you humming?
he questioned rather cautiously. Dupre never hummed, or sang, or did anything of the sort. To start to do so all of the sudden slightly scared Vereine. Oh me? Hmm, I’m not so sure. Actually, I hadn’t realized ‘till you mentioned! he replied, sounding far too happy. ”I think I ate something… or maybe drank something strange. Oh god, I probably did, didn’t I. Is this even reality? I am dreaming? Dammit, Dupre! You better not be pulling some sort of shit again!” He rambled, not bothering to contain it within his thoughts. Even if someone were to be nearby, hopefully the sound of the waterfall would muffle it. The current situation (which really wasn’t a very huge situation at all) made Vereine feel on edge. He wasn’t acting himself at all, and neither was the raven. He rarely lost his composure, and even if he did, it was because of Dupre constant chatter and never ending annoyance that lead to an outburst of hate and anger. To lose himself over something like this and to panic and just freak out was something new to him. A low growl escaped his maw, ”I swear, when I wake up from this bloody dream, or whatever the hell this is, I’m going to murder you. And make you suffer. Very slowly.” It’s not like you’re the one who’s humming or anything. And overreacting isn’t exactly new for you… the other countered. Vereine rolled his eyes and went back to staring at the water. As much as he hated to admit, the raven did have a point. He let out a loud huff before lying down and letting his head rest against his paws. Of course, he could have just walked over to the dens and rest in a more comfortable spot, but he wasn’t in the mood to make social contact with anyone because walking into the dens was just asking for someone to talk to. No, he couldn't bear to let anyone talk to him, especially in this current state. He was moody, somewhat vulnerable, and completely out of it. The raven’s soft hum continued at the back of his head as Vereine tried to push it away as much as possible and let his thoughts wander. They came back to that female from before, the one with the beaver-like tail and strange bill. He racked his brains trying to remember her name but eventually gave up. The chances of the two meeting again didn’t seem very high in his opinion, even if they were fellow pack members. Perhaps in a pack meeting or during a hunt, but other than that, he couldn’t think of reasons as to why they would need to cross paths again. He shook his head, hoping to clear his mind, and averted his attention back to the meaningless water. Today would be a long and tiresome day for sure. word count ;; 761 tags ;; oteka ! chess ! open ! ooc ;; out of character Vereine and Dupre are out of character. It had indeed had it’s humiliating parts, but at the same time it had it’s good points as well. It got her mind back on surviving, and even Erena had enjoyed the fishing expedition and the bath, it had simply delighted her. When she had returned to her den, she flushed out the old scraps of mud and grass and such she had collected for comfort, and found a nice hollowed groove that suited for a bed just wonderfully. She lay there with her mind a nice quiet oblivion of puffy clouds, and Erena even muttered a small story as they both fell off to sleep. Oteka had found that since she had begun to isolate herself completely from the pack, Erena was unfortunately the only source of companionship she could ever expect as long as she kept it that way.
Close to the afternoon Oteka’s eyes opened and she stretched out within the boundaries of her den, her pelt, two toned as it was looked glorious, perfect and shining. Her tail looked plump and flapped with force. Today it even seemed like the sand simply melted through her webbed paws and claws. She decided that today, instead of making her way down to the spring to remain cool, she would find a seat next to the waterfall. She knew it was close to the alphess’ den, and even out in the open to other pack members, but she doubted they would talk to her. It wasn’t as if her appearance encouraged much socialization apparently..Erena huffed within her mind. ‘You know, we aren’t bad looking. It’s a shame others seem so put off. I would suggest you starting the conversation but well, maybe some day..’ Although the comment seemed like a rather insult, Oteka let it go. ‘Yes, maybe someday..’
The response was just what Erena was looking for, and though Oteka still found her over-exuberance and need to be positive rather annoying she did not have to resort to physically harming herself in days, and it showed. Escaping from her secluded den she made her way to the water fall, only to see the dark shape of…no…it couldn’t be…not…Vereine. She mentally groaned the name and Erena immediately perked up..’Oh now now…I know things perhaps did not end greatly last time, but this time, much could go right this time..I can see it now, you two all curled up by the water fall it would be romantic…’ Oteka’s eyes practically rolled within her head to stare at the second soul as if she were actually encased in the back of her brain, ‘Must you do this again Erena? I told you, I feel nothing but annoyance from this male..’
She realized in that moment that while the conversation had been happening within her mind, her facial expressions where changing, obviously in front of others, and the fact that she was standing several feet behind the ebony winged male without moving was making her look even crazier. It seemed as though, even through the roar of the waterfall she could hear him, talking to someone. Her eyes quickly scanned the area for anyone who might be with him, but he was alone…did he talk out loud to his second soul as well? Because of Erena’s natural talent to hear underwater, the sounds of rushing water rarely ever let anything escape her hearing, and now she knew more than ever she must move…
She skirted around the ebony male and came from behind to sit on the other side of the waterfall. She was visible to him, and he her, but she said nothing. She made sure her eyes never caught his or bothered to make eye contact. The last thing either one of them needed was to begin to fight all over again..’But you like fighting with him…it could even be a type of foreplay…I had that thought a few days ago but now seems as good a time as ever to tell you…’ ‘Oh god Erena please, you know what I am asking, begging you not to start. Not now.’ She leaned down in the water and began to drink slowly, keeping her eyes very focused on the water, which was hard considering it meant staring at herself, but if it kept her eyes off of Vereine she could at least be happy with that. If she went back to the dens now she would look like a coward, same if she went to a different area of the pack lands. Secondly, why should she have to move, when it was near reaching the hottest point of the day. No, she would not be run off.
She practically fell over in a lumpy pile of fur, and webbed flesh as her bill gently touched the water, making ripples float out from her, they mingled with the ones from the water falling down, but this way she was actually not facing him. She was facing the side, and she could look up at the water, or look at it falling down without him being right in her direct view. The only problem with this little strategy is she couldn’t, or wouldn’t see him staring at her, or even approaching her unless she looked directly at him. Her tail flopped over to the side, and her legs stretched out. At least here the mists would keep her cool, and the water would be refreshing if she got too hot for any reason. ‘Well, I know the sight of him may get you hot and bothered…’ Oteka suddenly wondered how long it would take to drown herself if she threw herself over the rock ledge into the water directly..’It was just a joke…kidding..kidding..maybe come back from the water…’ [/scrolly] | |

Vereine Talks , Vereine Thinks |
, Dupre Thinks Vereine let his paw fall into the water, dragging it left and right to create ripples then lifting his paw to watch the droplets fall and create even more was they met the water. All of this in hopes to amuse himself. Downright bored with absolutely nothing to do was never any good and it would spark some wicked idea in the raven’s head. Though he seemed completely out of it, Vereine knew to never underestimate the ability that Dupre had to cook up a scheme to not only entertain them but give them that satisfaction of causing some trouble. Now he was never a trouble maker, not really. It wasn’t as if he was some pup who liked to push others into a pool of mud or reek juvenile havoc, no his was more of a mature and scandalous trouble. The more he thought about it, the more it seemed like a likely idea. Besides, it had been too long since he’d last caused his fair share of mischief.
There was a loud groan then a soft thud as the wolf fell to his side, laying out next to the flow of water and staring absent mindedly at the ground. ”Dupre. I’m bloody bored. Do something besides that god awful humming.”
he muttered, sounding quite childish, contradicting the earlier statement that he wasn’t one for juvenile things. Well what do you want? Here I am, trying to… be uplifting and you’re just mopping about, thinking you’ve gone mental. Maybe because I am. he thought before scoffing. And you? Uplifting? See, those words alone I can already tell I’ve finally lost it. And so have you. He could sense that Dupre would have rolled his eyes if he could. The raven went back to his tunes while Vereine closed his eyes and let his other senses take over; hoping the sounds of the water and nature all around him drown it all out. And as if on cue, the presence of another wolf made his ear flicker forward and his tail lift then quickly fall. He took a deep breath, getting multiple smells from the earth but another, one that was so familiar. Vereine let his brain process it then suddenly, it clicked. The scent belonged to the same female from before, the one he encountered by the river. His eyes snapped open at the realization then closed just as fast. Hopefully she hadn’t noticed the brief look of shock. Though, just like that, Dupre started projecting irritation and annoyance, clearly ticked off and back to his usual self. It was an abrupt change and Vereine wasn’t very surprised. He mentally chuckled, his expression changing ever so slightly to portray amusement. Down boy… The raven squawked loudly, Don’t you dare talk to me like I’m some canine pet. It’s bad enough having to be affiliated with your kind, damn mutts. Vereine smirked at his second soul’s statement, almost forgetting that there was the female most likely very, very close. That reminded him, he didn’t even get a good look at her since he noticed her presence. He opened his eyes and lifted his head slowly, scanning the area in front of him for a figure. His brow arched when he was greeted with a clear view of the other on the other side of the water. He contemplated whether or not to speak up first, though she hadn’t made eye contact with him which gave him the impression that she wasn’t in the mood for a chat. His head tilted to the side, staring long and hard at the other, his thoughts jumping all over the place, though all seemed to relate to the other. The situation could have gone multiple ways and the outcomes would vary from just ignoring her and walking away, striking up a conversation and most likely start some sort of banter, or watch as she would yell and chew him out. Dupre scoffed at the last part, his emotions projecting a mix of annoyance and satisfaction. The raven thought that if the female did enough damage, Vereine would learn to lay off and find some other source of ‘entertainment’ and he wouldn’t have to see, in Dupre’s opinion, the hideous and irritating female ever again. Vereine would have snapped at the him if she wasn’t right in front of him. Don’t forget, you’re not very attractive yourself, damn bird. he reminded, making the raven shut up after an inaudible grumble. He shifted a little, quickly stretching his wings out then tucking them back close to his sides as he continued to watch her. He searched his brain for her name, going back to when they first encountered each other. She made some comment about how he was rude, not even bothering to introduce himself or ask her for her name. Gah! He shifted again, feeling uncomfortable and frustrated. Typical, typical Knoxie… Can’t even remember some poor girls name. Why am I not surprised? Oh hey! Remember that Calla girl? Doubt it, I mean its not like you even remember when y- Shut up! he mentally screamed, praying that his façade hadn’t changed with his temperament. He let in with his little debate with himself and decided he should say something. Might help jog his memory and remember her name, he hoped. ”So, enjoying the weather so far?” He called out, letting his inner anger subside and put on his mask that showed a relaxed and laid back self, nothing like what was going on inside of his brain. As cliché as the question may have been, he hadn’t really cared. Maybe she’d get a laugh, or maybe she’d just mock him and shoot some witty remark back. It didn’t matter; he was always in the mood for a good challenge. He heard Dupre let out a moan and let a small smile spread across his lips, his eyes glimmering with mirth. word count ;; 986 tags ;; oteka ! chess ! ooc ;; Let the awkward banter begin. :’D musical inspiration ;; Whirring - The Joy Formidable [/blockquote]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,392,true] | [atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/6nVp.png][scrolly:h(249),w(392),sy]‘I have come to the seventh circle of hell, truly and utterly.’ Oteka would like nothing more than to run, far and wide from this place. From this male. From this. Hell. It was just as hot and becoming just as unpleasant the more wolves she met here. Perhaps hermit life would be a better way to live. She could get a nice cave den somewhere, near the water, avoiding any and all natural life by escaping no matter the cost. No pack to claim, no Vereine to run from, oh yes the idea had definite perks as far as she was concerned. But as usual Erena had to perk up and ruin he fantastic ideas. ‘It sounds good, but who would you use to torture me…you know what? Nevermind, let’s go with the hermit idea…of course then you’ll only have me to converse with. Of course that’s not a bad thing considering what an excellent conversationalist I am..’ The idea was immediately scratched out in Oteka’s mind, having only Erena was simply not an option, she would go completely, and stark raving mad.
As she lay on her side, her short, shiny pelt was bright yellow on the underside, even finch colored, blending in nicely with the deep chocolate of her top layer. With the moisture from the water hitting her near constantly, she now looked even sleeker than before if such a thing was possible. Her bill clipped the water gently, giving herself a drink as she tried to ignore the storm that was sitting right across the water. If they began conversing again she just knew, knew where it would go, and she wasn’t sure she was up to it. Of course she would be up to insulting within every imaginable parameter, that wasn’t it. They had left each other the last time on such a…not good note she was not sure her mental being had completely recovered from it, and she knew not what would happen this time. It was a bloody curse with this winged….imbecilic moron with wings, she never knew what could happen. ‘Ah but that’s why you haven’t gotten up and moved away. You like the unexpected.’
She snorted aloud, making sure to take her bill from the water lest she choke on that which she had been drinking. ‘I don’t like anything about him, and the only reason I have not gotten up and moved is because the weather is still hot, I have already bathed and eaten and I am trying to relax, which is something you are making entirely difficult.’ Erena began to protest, ‘I am not, I am simply stating that if you two got over your mutual, seemingly hatred for each other, which actually doesn’t exist, you might make a friend. Maybe even more.’ Oteka growled despite herself, ‘I’ll kill you, I swear I will Erena. Even if it means I have to take my own life, I will run you out of me before I die. I refuse to die with your voice in my head.’ She was aware that now someone was staring at her, and quite hard now that she thought about it.
She turned her head slightly, and looked at the winged male, and if she could have she would have wrinkled her bill up in distaste. Didn’t they discuss this just before that staring was quite rude all things considered? She thought back to their previous conversation and remembered in depth their conversation about appearance and manners. But why should she be the first one to speak? Oh no that was simply not going to happen. With a rather annoyed look she stared back at him, going over him with a fine toothed comb just like he was doing to her. Her smaller eyes, though just as dark at her top coat stared at him, intent on being just as rude as she considered him to be at this moment. Erena found the whole situation highly amusing. ‘I think it’s cute two soon to be lovers staring at each other over the misty water of the canyon, oh if I could just tell the others.’ Her eyes widened slightly and she quickly ripped her gaze from him and plastered it to the water even if it did mean looking at herself.
‘Erena….’ Her one mention of her name held so much threats and anger the smaller second soul squeaked and seemed to bury herself in silence. She did however catch movement of his wings as he stretched them out, seemingly irritating her with the fact that he had them at all. Oh yes, he was very attractive and all that rot. Erena took a breath to say something except for the fact that Oteka’s mind went blank quite quickly, filled with violent visions of what she would do to her if she said one more thing about him. Another meep and silence permeated her brain. She sighed inwardly, pushing the air from her lungs as she realized he was still staring at her. Was he trying to provoke her? Or was he so stupid he didn’t remember they had a conversation not too long ago where each of them left so wounded each in different ways.
She watched his face out of the corner of her eyes, and smiled seeing that he was visibly trying to hide the fact that he was seemingly arguing with his own burden. It did her heart good to know that she was not the only one who had a….troubled relationship with the second one that had taken up residence in her body. Although she seemingly got the worse end of the stick as far as appearances went she loved the fact that things were not all roses and such for the ebony male. The few things she did see in his face seemed to smooth out immediately as he dared to call out over the water to her, something about the weather…she rolled her eyes as best she could. Was he serious? Now what to do for a response…she could simply ignore him…she could be falsely polite..no that was not an option. Insult him seemed pretty high on the list and so she cleared her throat, took a sip of water and called back.
“Should be asking you that, can you even see four feet in front of you? Do you even know who you’re talking to? Oh and I thought birds, no matter how large didn’t enjoy getting wet, makes it hard to carry their even fatter asses around.” She snorted and pawed the ground lightly. The bird shot was more an insult to his inner friend but still, she was indeed curious, did he even remember her? The last time they had even tried to share a hint of shade he wobbled around and eventually had to lay down, made her wonder just how bad his eyesight was. Hers was considerably blurry but usually some time in the water helped out, she assumed that was Erena’s doing, who just so happened to speak up now. ‘You know insulting his second soul might not be smart, what if they aren’t like us and he likes his?’ Oteka had a very simple answer, ‘If he is anything like you, I am sure Vereine is stuck in the same position I am with you. In hell.’
