(Haha, that's right folks, I'm back, and so is Torn )
Torn ran. He had finally figured things out while a prisoner of the Cadre. His soreness, his disfigurement, all of it was connected to one thing. His skills. If he used his skills more then his health degraded. Simple actions wouldn't do enough to bother him, but anything else was bad news, from soreness, to his body disintegrating.
That wasn't it though.
From staying with the Cadre it had at first broken him. He hadn't been very free at first to begin with, being a captive seemed to be worse than ever. But as the months drug on he realized, he was learning things he never would have had time to before. They kept him from starving, not much, but more than he would have had hunting. And then that gave him time to train. At first he had been afraid, even after some training he was a bit scared. But soon he realized it was a skill to practice. As he became adept with his earth manipulation, and forcefields, even his newly discovered healing powers he realized another thing. His power was the reason he was crippled.
At one point he had shaped a boulder into a wolf, to see if he could. Before he had taken it in parts, but on that occasion he did it all at once. His leg had visibly shrivled a bit, and his soreness was emmense again. That was about a month ago. Since then, he had refused to use his power. His leg had recoved a fair amount of his past strength, but he didn't know how far he could push before it was irreparable.
So he decided to leave the Cadre. It wasn't that he hated them, not at all like when he had first arrived. With certain wolves he even thought he might be able to love them, but that would bring shame on them he was sure. That and now that he realized what his condition was, he needed to find a cure. So he ran across the field. He used a slight of his power to keep the dust from billowing behind him, or from leaving prints. It gave him a headache, but he could do it without losing strength. Run. He didn't know where, but with his newfound confidence he didn't care. Just running.
