The wolf’s shifting brown pelt floated as she weaved through the grasses, due to the wind that flowed through her fur. Scents surrounded her; ones of grass, of sunshine, of prey, of her pack. She loved considering them her pack. The first group of wolves to accept her without hesitation and restriction; there were no feelings of being tied down yet the group bonding was strong. Every wolf looked out for one another; yet they were all independent without a leader to lead them one hundred percent of the time. She grew to love them, even though they may not approve of her actions.
Nova’s life has changed dramatically ever since she joined the Alliance. She’s learning to trust other wolves for that fact that they will not hurt her for any reason, even though she pranks on them. She has friends, starting with her mentor Evelyn – whom she calls Sparkly – and moving forward to her closest friend (if not mate) Sky. She was still pretty sure the Guide Keinvarii did not like her, nor Raynor or any of the others; but surely did accept her willingly into the Alliance.
The lightning lupus’ nose twitched as she caught scent of a jackalope. Freezing in her tracks, her eyes shifted through the grass scanning for any sign of the odd prey. She spotted movement and her violet eyes locked threateningly on the furball. It hopped carelessly through the grass, unaware that the predator behind him was quickly closing the distance.
At the last second when the rabbit froze to catch Nova’s scent, she lunged forward and bit the animal’s neck, snapping it quickly as to not let the creature suffer. She dropped it, and thanked the Goddess for the kill. This was something she only recently started doing, for the sake that maybe the Goddess still cared whether or not she was dead. She dragged the kill to a bush in the area that had been hollowed out under it at to make like a little den. The lightning lupus stuffed the prey in there to preserve it for the next time she saw Sky.
Weaving through the grass sent ripples like waves on the lake floating out across the prairie. Her destination was a tall rock ahead of her, where she wanted to sit and sing. She avoided a tiny snake in her path, just merely stepping over the harmless thing. She paused for a moment and watched it; then as it headed to her legs she let it crawl up and curl up on her back. Something the original Nova would’ve never done.
She crawled up onto the rock and laid down on the flat stone, the snake contently curled up at the nape of her neck. She glanced behind her to make sure there were no others around, for she did not like to sing in front of an audience. After a few moments of scanning the territory she smiled, and lifted her muzzle to the sky. Opening her maw released a beautiful song, rich with harmony as her voice cascaded across the scale. Any wolf would have guessed it was a Cael’s voice, never an ugly lightning lupus. Then, she began her song.
My life was over with nothing to protect I had no song, no aura to project A deep hatred of wolves young and old Slowly faded yet my heart remained cold It was only by chance that I wandered here And happiness was something nowhere near Until by Evelyn, who sparkled so bright Gave me a chance, a new shining light Then with a bubbly wolf named Sky Unlocked the chains that my heart they bind A new chance a new life a new wolf may I be Because of the Alliance, I am free!

Torn padded slowly into his territory, if it still was partly his. In his travels he had now covered almost the length of the lands. And never found a thing about what he could do about his condition. Not yet anyway. Either there was no cure, or he was not going to get it himself. The thought that someone would do that for the cryptic wolf with no pawprints made him chuckle to himself. Soon he could rest though. Since he had minimalized his power, he was feeling stronger.
Then he heard something drifting in the clear air. A tune. Turning toward it he made sure he was totally silent by damping the earth as he limped forward at a steady clip. He wanted to listen.
He saw the source almost immediately. The wolf was fairly pleasing, in sight and sound. He padded to a stop and sat down, listening to the last few notes. The Alliance. So the pack had come through, he admitted to himself he was a tad surprised.
The wolf was silent for a moment, and Torn took the chance to 'introduce' himself. Raising his voice he made a slight alteration on the tune and sang.
"Forth with all the counted days, under both the light or stormy skys, with power and soul trapped within each way, Torn by nature and Torn by name."
He wasn't a good singer. But he wasn't bad as he used to be. While in the Cadre he had been ordered to, so he got better. He watched the wolf with his hard stony eyes, waiting for a reaction.

As her song drew to a close another masculine voice joined in. It grated in her ears and they twitched as she whipped her head around to face the intruder, thus unsettling the little snake on her back. A growl erupted from deep in her chest toward the opposing wolf. Her nose twitched as she took in his scent. A very faded one of the Alliance, but one of travel and distance covered it. He was a lupus, which was apparent. Her newly softened eyes once again turned into their old piercing ultraviolet, seeming to glow with pure hatred at the intruder.
Nova’s lips lifted into a snarl at the wolf that snuck up on her. Her glowing violet ones needled into the opposer’s stony gaze, battling for intimidation. She stood, and leapt of the stone to land squarely in front of the lupus. Her tail was stiffly held low, and the fur along her spine bristled ever so slightly. Her head was level with her body, her ivory teeth glistening white against her shifting brown pelt.
Hello Torn, how nice it is to see a fellow pack member. What brings you here?
Her voice was neutral and melancholous. It betrayed no sort of emotion or the new wolf she was becoming. This little instant turned her back into the cruel wolf she used to be. The tone she spoke in was deep, almost masculine, yet flowed like water with a feminine touch.

He wasn't feeling that hungry anyway, but he did love a good chase.
Then, he heard the soft melodic voice of a female wolf singing, then followed by a deeper male voice. He could not make out what they were singing so he decided to investigate. He ventured a little deeper into the plain and followed the sound of the voices. After a few more moments, the singing stopped, then he heard a growl and a snarl, then a cold greeting.
'Nova,' he thought. He slowly crept up behind her, up onto the rock and playfully pounced on her, nibbling her ear gently. "Hey, Nova. What's going on here?" He licked her for a little bit then looked up at Torn. "Oh hey, Torn! Great to see you today!" and returned to his friendly tackle.

Nova’s whole perspective changed when she felt Sky’s presence near her. She almost purred when he licked her head, and she untensed quickly. Her tail started wagging and she nuzzled his neck gently, her eyes closed. She backed up a few inches to stand protectively beside Sky, letting Torn know that she was his. Her soft gaze pierced into Torn’s own, then softened again at the gaze of her future mate.
You know this wolf? She did not like him, he was too cold and neutral like she. Two negatives don’t equal a positive in this instance. She nuzzled Sky’s side, rubbing her scent onto him so he could know she was his as well. She turned and glared once more at the cold lupus who called himself Torn.
Only those who can sing I allow to join my song.

He's in our pack! You just have to accept others as they are. You can't have favoritism here. We're one big family" Sky continued playing with her and licking her, and somewhere deep in his mind he thought they should stop having this lovey-dovey fight because someone else was watching. But instead, he made a big fuss over her to show Torn that she was his, and no one else's.
"Torn, Nova, no fighting, okay? We have to get along if we're all gonna stay in this pack," he told the both of them sternly, then whispered to Nova, "Or if you want, we could leave this place..." and smiled at her seductively then continued nibbling her ear and taking in her sweet scent.

Torn realized how much the pack had changed since he had been here. He barely remembered Sky. Perhaps his place wasn't here anymore, however he had picked up immediately how to be charming in the Cadre. He decided now was a good a chance as ever, seeing the icy disposition he received from this Nova. The Sky wolf seemed overly happy, probably just who he was. Although he could tell without thinking that Sky was trying for Nova, and they seemed happy, if still upset. And as to his singing, well, she didn't know who he was, or what he was. Then again he didn't know what he was either.
Torn spoke in a soft quiet voice, letting his eyes hold the brunt of his hard focus. "I used to be here, some time ago." Torn inclined his head. "I've been spending time abroad, and as a prisoner of the Cadre. I found it polite to join in your song, rather than sit and stare, though I must say, I prefer knowledge and wisdom over song." Torn let out a chuckle to lighten the mood. It was all about getting people to their comfort levels, one reason he was part of the founders.
"I haven't met you, Nova I gather, and I must say Sky, I only vaguely remember you."
Taking a chance with his health he knew he needed to assert some show that he wasn't just a helpless twerp. The Cadre had worn off on him in that regard. Gathering his strength he felt his eyes cloud over and his vision changed to his stone vision, he was now used to it. He lifted the slant of the hill he sat upon to be level with the other wolves, and rather than ripping it out causing a quake as he had in the past, he only moved a 'chunk' of the hill upwards, filling in the excess discretely. His vision returned to normal, and Torn knew his eyes were no longer cloudy.
Well, that wasn't so bad. His leg burned as if on fire, and he knew he wouldn't be running, but shifting the ground was noticeable enough to show he was not to be underestimated. Oh bother, his headache was back.

I know, I know Sky. Just I’m not too keen on trusting others as you are. But I guess I’ll have to get used to it.
Her words were soft up until her last statement that turned sharp and was directed to Torn in all his glory. She sat, content to sit beside Sky and have his gentle affections soothe her temper. Although what he suggested after made her scoff with disgust. She gave him a look with her violet eyes that clearly stated No way. Not this soon. She directed her piercing gaze back to the stone lupus, who seemed to try and soften his disposition as much as she.
How interesting. A traveler, in the Alliance? I find that slightly strange. And I would’ve rather you sat and stared. Not that I like an audience but I’d rather have that then my ears shredded.
His singing wasn’t really that bad, but she still didn’t like it. She didn’t like him, and doubted she ever would unless they could find something in common. Perhaps she could give him singing lessons? She blinked blankly. Where the hell did that idea come from?
The snake that had curled up on her neck earlier and fell off when she jumped now wanted to crawl up again. Rolling her eyes she stilled to let the tiny serpent slink up through her fur. Even Torn’s laugh disgusted her. Clearly he wanted to lighten the mood but being disturbed unpleasantly by the lupus couldn’t ever cease her already growing dislike. A battle raged inside her head, between the cold wolf she used to be and the new gentle one she wanted to be.
No you’ve never met me, I’ve only recently joined the alliance as a fighter. And I’m perfectly fine staying that way. I could give you singing lessons to help your voice if you wish. Her eyes widened slightly as she snapped her mouth shut. Where the hell did that come from? It was only a thought it’s not like she was really going to do that. She shook her head gently, trying to soothe the headache that was beginning to grow. Then the stone lupus shifted the ground. Rolling her eyes at his attempt to show off, she steadied herself by splaying her forelegs for balance. The snake hissed coldly.
She growled, trying to tell the snake if it wanted a place to rest then it should go away and not come back. It shut up. Then the lightning lupus directed her attention back to the two males before her, licking the cheek of her future mate.

Then Nova looked at him like he was a zombie of some sort and he looked at her apologetically. He turned to Torn and spoke to him, "How long were you away?" He stared at Torn and his eyes seemed to pierce right through him, feeling a sudden wave of protection over Nova. His instincts told him something was amiss, so he took a step in front of her. No, not the snake that was slithering up her, but something worse. Something much worse.
Sky listened quietly to his beloved speak to the other wolf and his eyes nearly bulged out of his sockets when he heard her offer him singing lessons. A low, soft growl sounded deep in his throat. He did not want Nova to get hurt and this wolf looked quite suspicious.
'Don't you dare....' he thought and narrowed his eyes at Torn.

"I appreciate your offer for singing lessons, perhaps someday I'll take you up on it."
Ears shredded. He wasn't that bad. And if Sky's untrustworthy reaction to his return and he was indeed a more trusting wolf, then it would not bode well if things continued on this path. Torn watched him as he stood protectively in front of her for a moment.
Torn glanced between the two wolves. Neither of them trusted him, and he felt no need to try and prove himself to complete strangers. He rose to go, inwardly wincing. His use of power had damaged his leg more than he had expected. This day had changed from the good feelings of returning, to the realization it was not home that had changed, but him.
Torn met Sky's gaze for a moment. It was a message, more or less clear, and not his question of how long since he had been around. He was being the tough guy for his girl. A good heart perhaps. Torn returned the stare by looking as far into Sky's eyes as he could. Interesting wolf, this one.
"I've been gone for more than a few months now. Perhaps it will stay that way, I'm sorry for troubling you." Torn kept his voice clear and level. This conversation was over. Words might still be exchanged, but he had made up his mind on what he was going to do next.
"Anything else?"

She thought a lot of singing and according to her, this wolf's singing voice did not meet her standards.
Torn met Sky's pale blue eyes and he seemed to be trying to glare him down, as Sky thought. Then he turned to go and apologised for intruding, but Sky stopped him by saying, "No. You were not disturbing. You can stay if you wish, if Nova wishes." He looked at Nova then back at Torn

Nova was almost disappointed that Torn refused her offer. But then again, they didn’t start out on the right side of the den either. Her eyes widened as she lost control of her body for a moment as she jumped up to call him back. She didn’t want him to leave; she was only starting to fix her mistake. She pushed in front of Sky and looked pleadingly at Torn. This was a look you’d never see on her face.
No Torn, please stay. I’d like to get to know you better.
Gawd what was wrong with her? The battle continuously raged inside her head, be nice, or be cruel. Be hopeful, or hopeless. Be untrusting, or give others a chance. It just wouldn’t stop. The little snake apparently thought of himself as her little tagalong so he lifted his head and hissed softly at the stone lupus. She glanced back at it and ignored its attempts to help.
The lightning lupus stepped forward walking to the stone wolf and walked around him trying to turn him around. She nuzzled the stranger’s neck, asking gently to get to know him. She sat in his path, hoping he would second-guess his ideas of leaving and stay for a few. She shot a glare at Sky, clearly stating in silent terms be nice and let me be myself or I’ll have your hide.
A clump of dirt between her toes itched, and she lifted it to her maw to gnaw it out. She gently spit out the dirt in an attempt to be lady-like.
I apologize for Sky’s little possessive attitude. I really haven’t thought about it much, but he seems quite a possessive lover. Not that I mind, I’d just like to have some more friends before e starts being all protective.

She then had stared at him and called him overprotective. He wanted to growl but it came out as a low whimper. He cleared his throat to cover it up but he knew that Torn would be able to tell. 'Don't be jealous, she's only trying to heal herself and make friends,' he told himself. Sky took a step closer towards them and watched Torn closely. He not want Nova to grow too close to Torn, for he did not want to get heartbroken yet again. "Nova...." he said. | |

Torn remained relaxed as Nova nuzzled him, making sure not to get excited or shy away. She seemed like she could be a very nice wolf besides her first words. Torn glanced between the wolf in front of him and the clearly distressed Sky. He guessed that they were fairly new lovers, from the way they acted. Still, he was getting mixed messages, and had mixed thoughts on the subject. On one hand there was this Nova, who was seeming to flip between a hard exterior and a caring, almost pleading inside. Had he met her without Sky he might have had an interesting talk, usually other wolves had a habit of telling him things he had no right to know.
However then there was Sky, a lover, and considering how he was acting, either a very new one, or one who had done it before. He was distressed, and perhaps rightfully so. If Nova was his first love, then he would be ripped apart by anything other than very light affection for others, and if she was a second love, then he wouldn't want to go through anything painful again, seeing as she obviously was no longer around. However his brief burst of... bounciness would also be interesting under other circumstances. Perhaps they would talk later.
Get to know him Nova said. Torn wanted to give a bitter remark to that but he bit his tongue. No one really wanted to know him unless they wanted something. Someone always wanted something from him it seemed like.
He would need a middle ground."I would be delighted if you joined me later. However at the moment I am tired and sore, and it would be good if I found a new area for a den."
He left out that due to his illness he was in no small amount of pain from using such a precise use of his power. It wasn't pertinent besides, and would only seem like pity-grabbing he was sure.
"And at some point I am going to want to meet everyone in the pack, and get to know them as best I can." There we go, very graceful Torn thought.
Torn inclined his head politely to both wolves before he limped around Nova and headed in towards the pack territory. For a turned to invite them to walk with him, but then he doubted they would care to walk to slowly with a cripple. That and he had noticed both from his headache and from looking behind he had stopped his paws from making prints in the earth. He wasn't being tracked anymore, he needed to stop doing that, it looked spooky, even to him.

Nova nodded with understanding at both Torn and Sky. She really liked Sky, because of his bubbly personality and he had what she lacked. He had the vibrant heart, the outgoing personality, the social demeanor. Nova was none of those, and she wanted to have them, which she hoped Sky would help her with. But this here Torn… hmm he was an interesting figure. Although she did notice his crippled leg he still seemed very mysterious and intriguing to her. She shot a glance at Sky before returning her softened gaze back to Torn. She nuzzled him as he passed, then remembered her prey from earlier.
Oh, Torn, before you go sire, I have a place for you to rest. Follow me.
She hoped he’d follow her, so she can lead him to the den-like bush with the prey. She padded forward, making her way to the bush, then glancing back to see if they were following. The hollow inside the bush was large enough for two wolves at the most, so she offered a comfortable place for them while she went out and caught another rabbit for Sky.
She returned as quickly as she could, dropping the prey at her lover’s feet. Her tail swung gently with an eagerness to please and a smile played on her maw from the thankfulness she hoped to receive from the two.
