Only one thought briefly flickered through his mind, a wonder whether Apocalypse would actually fully answer the question? Perhaps he hadn't really intended to, had considered working around the words to answer as little as possible. The yagi wouldn't actually have blamed him if that had been his plan, he hadn't really given the most helpful of answers himself, Apocalypse had struggled to get proper responses.
It was a fairly detailed answer that followed, a number of names for the species; harbinger as apparently seemed to be the most obvious of ones. He could understand the spirit and illusion, recalling how faint Apocalypse had been before hand. A part of him wondered why that was, though perhaps he could simply control how 'real' he seemed. Maybe that was some kind of power that they had.
Maybe it was related to those thoughts that Apocalypse spoke of, the being in his mind. Perhaps someone had to believe he was there to begin with; when he had first heard the voice there had been no shape to place with it, now he could see the shape of a fellow wolf.
It was all still almost quite hard to believe, that there were a species of wolves that could live inside the minds of others. The explanation was acceptable, though confusing and rather thought provoking. So much in fact that he simply blurted out his next question, hardly any thought involved in it at all. He wasn't even aware of whether Apocalypse would answer another, but even that thought didn't cross his mind as he spoke.
"Why my mind?"

He liked perplexing others, it made them ask questions, which made them talk more. His four tails flickered ominously.
The question came quicker than expected, he finally got the wolf to talk more, which he was proud of, " Why you? Well that's simple enough. You were here. It's rare to find a random wolf in the middle of the desert, so I figured there had to be a good reason why. You piqued my curiosity so I came to investigate."
His form was mostly solid now. A strong, barrel chested wolf, tall and muscular. His eyes remained an eerie glowing red, as did one of his tails. This had become his default form mostly, he liked it the best. Other harbingers used bright flashy colors, he preferred darker tones. He scanned the desert through the eyes of the yagi, trying to get a feel for how long they had been walking together.

It made sense after all, seeing a yagi out in the middle of the desert was a rather strange sight. He was aware of that himself, and in all honesty, had he been a more curious wolf, he would have investigated himself. And it seemed harbingers could choose any mind they wanted to investigate, or at least he assumed so. For some, perhaps egotistical, reason Jelani felt that his mind ought to have been a difficult one to get into, yet Apocalypse had managed it easy enough, though the talking part hadn't come quite so smoothly at the start.
He too looked around the desert, though it had nothing to do with Apocalypse's own wish to see how far they'd travelled. If it wasn't for scents, he could have easily thought he was simply going in circles. The majority of this heated wasteland looked exactly the same; sand and more sand.
So simply put, Jelani didn't care about his path, he had simply wandered to be alone, ignoring the immense heat. He had to admit, the distraction of Apocalypse in his mind had eased things a lot, he had probably walked far further than he realised he had, somehow pushing the temperature out of his mind. The air was cooling now anyway, he'd passed another insanely hot afternoon, and simply had the more welcoming conditions of the night to deal with now.
Eyes focussed forwards again, peering into the distance, a part of him wondered, just a little, how much more of the desert he had to deal with. He was getting pretty hungry by this stage, and his thirst, that was another thing he'd rather not think about. Perhaps leaving the desert behind very soon would be good a thing.
There were no more questions, not just yet anyway and so there was silence again for a moment. Only his mind ticking away lightly as he thought about various things. The main one of course being the desert and the dangers it brought. This hadn't been a wise idea in some ways, but in others it had worked nearly perfectly.
