The beast was relentless in its struggles, lashing out and kicking with the vitality that was only characteristic of a defiant youth. As it were Coneiron was feeling rather youthful him self and was not inclined to allow this animal to win against wolves. He felt a paw strike his head, a claw running through his skin and barely missing his eye as blood began to fall from the cut. Shaking his head the lupus tried to clear the blood from his eye and bellowed in anger. Snarling he moved back and ran at the calagris, taking a leap and landing on the beast top side as his claws scraped against flesh to try as he pulled himself up.
Reynard was in rough shape and the aged wolf would have enough trouble healing without further injury; if he could ever recuperate. Fun time was over and a swift kill would be necessary, but how could he get this young beast to fold? Desperate to find a solution he struggled to keep on the animal in the meantime, growling as he made several attempts to sink his fangs into the animal. The others were all taking tactics that were intelligent, Oscar's style rather unique the lupus thought, grinning slightly through the blood trickling down his face.
The animal's constant movements were making his feat very difficult as Conerion tried to keep focused on the task at hand. The other wolves own attempts were certainly bloodying the beast up, but the progress did not feel fast enough. In reality not much time might have gone by, but to the fighting wolf it felt in slow motion and elongated out of proportion. Giving one last heave he tried to latch his jaws onto the back of the animal's neck as he flung himself to the ground, hoping that all the wolves added weight and aggravation would upset its balance one last time.

Things seemed to happen in slow motion. The beast's forepaws came at her, claws out stretched. Her father, battered and beaten trying and failing to save her from the oncoming blow. The snarls of all the others around her. Then everything speed up again and she couldn't remember how she got from point A to point B.
Her shoulder throbbed and the once pristine white fur was stained with blood pouring from the shredded flesh on her shoulder. She gasped in pain, mind buzzing with it. The calagris had knocked her to the ground. Looking up she saw her father lunge for it's collar bone and Coneiron trying to pull the thing to the ground. Oscar was attacking the beast's rear, literally.
Angel had been on the ground two seconds too long. She lurched to her feet again. Launching herself forward she tried to help Coneiron's attempt to knock the beast off it's feet again, to expose it's vulnerable underside. She sank her teeth into the calagris' neck and yanked in the same direction as the water lupus. How much ninety five pounds of Kieyou would help against six hundred pounds of predator Angel didn't know. But she sure as hell had to try.

He relished when he felt the connection of his paw to the white keiyou. He would have guffawed in victory had things not changed so quickly. He felt his shoulder and collar bone both penetrated by teeth and claws. The fangs stung, but not as much as the realization that momentum was against him once more.
He teetered a little, then hollered in surprise and pain as fangs found his underside too. Fear of not being able to procreate made him try to jump away, but the weight of the other wolves on his neck and shoulders pulled him over to his other side. He hit the ground, feeling one shoulder lock under the impact.
Rage and fear were now one in the same. He was beginning to lose. And if they kept him from getting up again, he would not be able escape with his life. He snarled, spat and roared. He kicked out his hooves and lashed out for the keiyous at his neck. He could smell blood all around him. His wild mind reeled, looking for something to blame for all of this. Of course it wasn't his own fault, that was stupid to think. He saw the red-orange keiyou near his front. It was his fault. If he wodl have just let him come in and kill the pup this would not have happened.
All of his ire boiled over at the same time and he lashed out at the older male, the one that was clearly losing steam in this fight. With all his strength he slapped at him with claws extended, leaving himself open for attack by the others, but not caring as long as he got some sort of revenge on the wolf that started it all.

As his jaws clamped home on the more precious of the calagris' assets, Oscar snarled violently as the beast writhed in pain and anger. They were winning, hooray! And Oscar would hopefully still be on good terms with both the current and future alphas. However, if he held on too long to this piece of meat he would have bitten off more than he could chew...in more ways than one. Already his neck was feeling the strain so he gave a couple of chews to really hurt the beast and let go, shooting away from its underside and shooting forwards towards the front. The beast was now hellbent on destroying Reynard. Well, there wasn't much Oscar could do about that but it took the focus of danger away from himself and towards Reynard, leaving Oscar free to try a different attack. Every muscle was crying out for rest as he raced forward and twisted so that his back would hit the floor. Moving gravity from himself and placing it instead behind Reynard so the injured wolf could get away quickly if he was willing, Oscar threw all four legs around the calagris' neck, thrusting his head forward to rip at the throat. I'm going to get away with this alive, he told himself, but if the others join me at his throat then this beast is dead. That way it will have no vendetta against me and I will look no less heroic than the others. Plus, with one fewer calagris around the whole place will be safer. Looking after the pack made sense.

Hal followed a safe distance behind Oscar, thinking that if he got out of this alive, then he would make sure to lay low for a while and avoid the lupus at all costs.
It wasn't long before the smell of carnage and the sound of a fight reached the orange keiyou. His heart rate picked up before he even got close enough to see what was happening, and when he finally did look over the hill out onto the battle field, his little heart almost stopped. There was so much blood everywhere, But as far as he could tell, they were winning. The arrival of reinforcements meant that hopefully his father would make it out of the battle in one piece.
His dark blue eyes watched the fast moving figures down below. He was frozen in place, not even bothering to crouch down to avoid being seen. He supposed to adults were too busy to notice him, anyway. So the rest of the fight would be watched by a young audience member. [/scrolly]

There was an overwhelming sense of dread as the calagris teetered. His eyes watched things in slow motion. His limp leg was in the shadow of the beast, as it hit more pain went through his leg and shoulder. He felt his forepaw seize as a toe or two broke from the impact. He yelped in pain and surprise and jerked away, attempting to pull his foot out. He tried a few times, crouching to avoid the other wolves that danced around, making wonderful attacks. He suddenly felt that the calagris' eyes were on him, he looked up and his ears flattened as a paw came toward his face. He turned his head and pulled on his foot once more. The impact of the giant paw dislodged him from under the beast, but sent him careening away from the fray, hitting the ground hard. His face burned, his eye was in so much pain. His head was reeling. His face was wet with fresh blood. He staggered to get up, but his knees buckled. He sunk to the ground, the adrenaline finally wearing off and his body shutting down from shock and blood loss. His good eye opened just long enough to see the wolves descend on the beast. He heard a ringing in his ears, and there was a vague muffled snarl as Oscar ripped into the calagris. They can kill it. They will kill it. He was resolved that his pack could finish the deed. Then the heavy feeling took over and blackness prevailed as the High Cheif loss conciseness.

It was evening, the midst thereof. The sky was clear of any sign of future or present clouds and thus the stars began to shine down lightly, twinkling and perhaps even murmuring whispered secrets to any who might have had an ear tuned to their voices. It was warm, a light breeze starting up and dancing among the foliage. At the peak of the heavens, and brightest of all shone the full moon, reflected in the white orbs on the Chiefs face.
He was out patrolling the borders of the Valley, careful to mark each station with fresh scent to ward off sinister strangers, or welcome a soul searching for a home. All had gone smoothly in his final round, and the white hybrid was looking forward to venturing back home to eat and converse with his fellow comrades.
However all was not as it seemed as an ungodly ruckus vibrated his very audits over the wind. The brute paused anxiously, straining to hear more and taste whatever he could on the air. Blood and fear struck him like a log to the face, and the ever calm Chief yelped in surprise. What was going on in his home? And right under his nose!
Without so much as another thought, the shaggy behemoth was off and running toward the commotion. Muscles bulged under the rush, his thick legs propelling the brute faster than he had moved in a very long time. As he drew close, whispers shattered his racing mind, detailing him on the scene to come. Vivid images seeped into his thoughts, and that's exactly what greeted him.
A few wolves had managed to get a raging beast, Calagris was it? to the ground, their ferocious snarls and glittering teeth a powerful display to witness. But there was something else on the wind that Yueh ad been more interested in. It was the scent of his High Chief, and his young son. His head darted from side to side, desperate to see and he cried out in pure hopelessness.
The whole situation was overwhelming, and those damned Spirits were so excited about the chaos their information was coming out nothing less than high pitched buzzing. They did not speak of Halycon, but they did of Rey. The battered, lifeless body that lay sprawled upon the earth a few feet from the fight. The white behemoth immediately thought the worse of this, and all fear drained out of his body in what seemed like a second.
Yueh was always calm. Hard to anger. But the supposed death of his brother took all that away. Should he be able to see, he wouldn't have seen clearly. The Spirits seemed to get excited of this too, but the Chief realized it was not them making the tremendous sound, it was himself, growling out a horrific, vengeful snarl as he charged the group and the fallen animal.

ooc: Sorry Who, but I reread the previous post a couple times and it just did not sit well with me so I had to change it.
Coneiron watched in alarm as the calagris gave Reynard a vicious swipe of unabashed rage and barked out in anger as the alpha was unable to avoid the hit. There was nothing the lupus could have done to prevent the strike but all the same guilt hit him as he watched helplessly as Rey collapsed where he had landed. The guardian wanted to go to his fallen leader's side but could nothing but continue the fierce fighting that still raged. Growling out in rage he doubled his efforts to destroy the wretched predator that now lay on the ground and more vulnerable then before.
It seemed like a miracle that the Chief showed up at that moment, his own bellowing cry of anger reaching Coneiron's ears through the fight. The three fighting wolves could handle the beast if they could but keep him down but neither of them would be able to move the high chief to safety. Yueh was larger then all of them and not afflicted by any injury, perhaps he could move the injured Reynard to a safer spot? Not to mention find a healer for immediate attention would be required. Coneiron's mind whirled with this new flux of information as he fought, trying to dig his teeth into the creature's neck without loosing more flesh.
The water lupus renewed his attempts, jaws snapping at flesh angrily, with some luck the larger winged wolf would know hwo to get this situation back under control. The other dark male seemed to be a gravity controlling lupus and an idea struck Coneiron, "Oscar, can you increase your gravity to help keep this beast pinned down?" It was a stretch, but if Oscar could increase his gravity and therefor his weight on the Earth perhaps they could keep the calagris down long enough to kill it.

Satisfaction thrummed through Angel as the calagris teetered and fell to the ground. That was until she realized the beast had landed on her father's leg. It startled her frozen as she finally realized how beaten the High Chief was. There was nothing she could do as the calagris lashed out, sending her father flying. Angel watched as Reynard attempted and failed to stand before passing out. This all happened so quickly.
"Father!" She wailed, heart clenching. Her head whipped back around to the Calagris, battling with Oscar and Coneiron still. She spotted Yueh, her father's Chief, barreling toward them in much the same fashion as she herself had. The fear that had seized the High Chief's daughter was quickly being replaced by rage. She had lost her father once when he became High Chief. Twice when he took his queen and started a new family. Angel was not about to loose her father a third time, for good this time.
With a snarl of rage Angel lunged, forgetting the pain in her shoulder and paw, for the beast's exposed throat just above where Oscar had bitten it. Sinking her teeth into the flesh she tugged with all her might. She didn't taste blood, no, she tasted sweet sweet revenge.

The beast bellowed in agony as his underside was seized and torn into. He lashed out, but each swipe was weaker than the last. Blood loss was slowly doing it's job. He growled and snapped at the figures around him, though everything was becoming more and more dull. Adrenaline was all that was powering the beast. he kicked out with his hooves and tried to roll to get the wolves off of him.
All he needed was purchase enough to get up and run. Then the kieyou female attacked his throat. He gurgled and struggled to shake her off of him. Stubborn and bull headed he was not about to give into his fate. He struggled trying to get up, but being pulled down again and again by the added weight of the other wolves. He lashed out more. It took him a second to realize that it was only three wolves now, so that renewed his hope of winning.
He gnashed his teeth at the flesh of the white wolf at his throat, trying to get a piece of her, though his strength was sapping, it would only be a matter of time before he succumbed to his injuries. The half cat half horse beast would not resign himself just yet, despite how hopeless it was for him. A few more well placed blows and he would be done.

It was obvious that this was the calagris' last fight. It was in pretty bad shape. Oscar heard Coneiron yell at him through the commotion to increase his gravity - well, he thought, that might be okay for you, strong wolf, but I am only just holding on. Still, Oscar scrabbled with his paws to try and get a better purchase on the beast's neck, then increased his own gravity. Thankful for Angel's help, he tried to increase her gravity instead as she seemed stronger than him. Oscar was not good at manipulating the gravity of others, but he had been practicing and he managed a small amount before he started to slip. The beast caught his back right leg in its jaws as it snapped around like a crocodile and flung him to the ground easily.
Feeling a little sorry for himself, Oscar looked up just in time to see the wretched, hateful silhouette of Halcyon. That little worm! Did he not know when to keep a promise? Oscar's eyes burned with fire but his leg hurt and he was exhausted. He could run and hide the cub now but that would draw attention to the fact that his first mission had failed. The calagris might shake off two wolves and pursue him. The only real option, with least trouble involved, was to continue to hammer the beast until it was dead. Sighing inwardly, Oscar cursed the cub and turned back to the cat thing with renewed energy, attacking the side of its face and neck with his sharp white teeth.

The wretched creature may very well have taken the life of the pack's alpha, deprived many pups of a caring father, broken a mate's love and stolen probably the damn finest leader Coneiron had ever met! Rage flashed in his eyes as he looked at the calagris, the beast would pay with no less than his miserable life and his pathetic blood would flow as compensation. Snarling in an enraged fit he pitched himself at the animal, headless to the complaint of his wounded side as adrenaline masked the pain for the time being.
Fangs flashed white against black and blue pelt, jaws snapping as Coneiron fought in the battle to seek retribution for the alpha and his family. Words were of no use now and a heavy blanket of boiling anger had settled over the survivors who now unleashed a rampage of unconfined strength and fearsome power on the fallen creature. Clawing at its shoulder Coneiron climbed back on top of the animal, claws extended to tear at the flesh below his paws.
He fought for the pack now, and maybe even so for himself for deep down an uncrushable thorn of hate grew from his experience as captive and even though Coneiron would trim the hateful growth, he could never completely dislodge it. And it was this hate that surfaced after so many years of being dormant and kept under control. The angered lupus followed Angel's example and went to latch his powerful jaws shut over its neck, seeking the veins that fueled the blood to the beast, the water of life and the source of vitality that would soon be cut off.

Black feathers dislodged from her wings as the beasts teeth clamped around them. The sweet Kieyou barely felt it. She barely felt any of her pain. The pain she did feel was that of the heart. Pain that her father may very well have been dead. That thought hurt more than any exterior wound could. The bite wasn't enough to break the fragile bones, the calagris' strength was fading. His thrashing getting weaker. Angel's fangs were still lodged in the thing's throat. Blood soaked her black muzzle and started to drizzle down the stain the white fur beyond that.
Out of the corner of her eyes she noticed Coneiron go into a furry. The calagris' fight died even more as the lupus climbed onto it's back and tore open it's shoulder. Angel pulled back as both Oscar and Coneiron started to attack the beast's neck as well. It's neck was now plagued with bleeding holes and bites. A rush of satisfaction ran through the normally gentile Kieyou. Nobody, and she meant nobody, messed with her family.
She launched back in, hooking her teeth with a good grip and pulling back with all her might. She tore at the flesh, trying to detach it from the beasts body. She would fight until she was bathed in blood. Till her fur resembled her father so much that she would be his spitting image. Even after the beast had passed Angel clawed and tore, until all that was left were the tears streaming down her face and the fear that she had lost her father. The wolf she loved most in this world.

All three wolves seemed to converge on him at the same time. The pain was starting to win over the adrenaline, he felt his jaws clench on feathers, but there was not enough strength to rend the wing. He felt heavier as more gravity was set upon one of the wolves about him. His whole body was deadening. The hot-headed spitfire had picked the wrong pack to mess with.
The larger lupus was on his neck again, the smaller lupus at his sides and the keiyou reattaching herself on his neck. He struggled now, not to attack, but to get up. To get away. His rage was subsiding, the fear was winning, the overwhelming sense of dread as the spots began to form in his vision. His throat was open, all he could do was gurgle as his life's blood flowed out into the cold grass.
His eyes rolled into the back of his head, seeing the sky only briefly before the darkness began to overtake him. The beast shuddered with one rattling breath. The exhalation seemed to be his spirit and soul leaving. The flow of blood seemed to trickle, as the organs failed to push it on. The muscles seemed to all relax at once as his head hit the ground, the contortion of rage and fear vanishing from his body.

Coneiron's strength renewed and Oscar watched through the corner of his eye as the old boy flew into a magnificent rage. That ought to do it, he thought. I'll just hold on and keep out of his rage. This beast will die! Sure enough he felt it quaver and pulsate as the calagris crumpled to the ground. Angel, Reynard's son, carried on tearing at it which would have made Oscar laugh, had he not had a strong sense of self-preservation. What curious behaviour, he thought: why continue killing it after it was dead? Was she funny in the head? Surely now her attentions should be turned to her wounded father.
Oscar had not met any wolves whose job it was to heal; he could only think of one other who may be able to help. Skyler's down-to-earth personality and wits would be useful in this situation and he knew she had some healing knowledge. He howled for her, hoping she would hear him and understand the urgency of his tones.
"Will you lie next to him, to keep him warm?" Oscar asked Coneiron. "I want to-" Throttle? Wrong word - "Ensure the safety of Halcyon." He didn't really know what to do with the weirdo. It was probably best he wasn't with her, in case he said the wrong thing (well...the logical thing. It was obvious she was nuts).
