"OUCH!" Yelped Obi as he fell onto his stomach, his legs spread out all around him. He got up, fairly embarrassed. It was a beautiful sunny day. Though the air was dry and left Obi begging for just one breeze to roll through, The sky was cloudless and lovely. The sky was a pasty blue and Obi was only looking up at it and not paying attention to his large feet which he very well knew he must. Obi licked his paws but kept a good eye on the area around him. It was open and there was very few places to hide. He scanned over the short dried grass. There looked to be no prey around, or threats, or other wolves for that matter. The ground under him seemed to match his coat but it was more dry and cracked. little veins ran through it and if Obi did not put his paws were the grass shaded it, the ground would hurt his paws. Obi sat on a small patch of dried grass and waited. But for what? Obi didn't know. Something just told him to wait. So he did. He had already finished everything that was needed of him. He had time. But for whom?

A small male Lyxxus made his way across the plains. The dry yellow grass crackled beneath his paws as he walked. Before when he had come through this area he had been on a mission. He hadn’t taken the time to really appreciate the beauty of what had since become his new home. But now he could take a moment to take in the blue of the sky and fresh scent of the land. He wanted to enjoy this calm. His maroon fur stood out against the grasses here and he was only comfortable out in the open because there didn’t seem to be much of anyone around.
He kept walking for a while, until his amethyst eyes spied a still figure in the distance. He also caught a scent trail that he knew, and it was one that had been expecting to run into at some point. He sighed a little. If he could see Obi, then Obi could see him. There was a chance that he wouldn’t recognize Tobias from this distance. After all, his brother might not even know he had arrived in these lands yet. So he could just slink off in the other direction. But he would have to face his brother sooner or later, so it might as well be sooner.
Tobias cared for Obi and their other four brothers with all his heart, but he hated the way he felt so small and inadequate when around them. It was the main reason he had left home, in the first place. So he had set out to find his sister, but of course someone had beaten him to her. But with Keely’s pups on the way they would likely be seeing more of each other now, so Toby needed to get over it and go talk to his brother.
He took a deep breath and began walking in Obi’s direction.

Obi spotted the wolf. The Lyxxus male was small (though to Obi, most Lyxxus were small), and smelled familiar. Obi jumped to his feet as the Lyxxus came toward him. Just who was this Lyxxus? Whoever it was had been in the territory for sometime because his fur was mixed with the smells of the streams and dens.
Obi had been told about Toby joining but had yet to see him, so it didn't quiet regestire with him that this male Lyxxus just might be his brother. Obi took long strides to meet this Lyxxus. He stood over the Lyxxus.
"Hello," He said through gritted teeth. 'Stay calm, calm....CALM' "May I ask who you are?"

Tobias cocked his head to one side at the question. Really? Really?! Of all of the things that his brother might have said to him, this was perhaps the most hurtful. He didn’t even recognize him. Tobias was so insignificant to Obi that he wasn’t even worth remembering. Deep in his mind he hoped that this was some sort of cruel joke, but the more rational side of him doubted it.
He sighed and looked up at Obi, feeling tiny in his shadow. He hated being so small. A lot of females were bigger than he was. Stay calm, he thought already wishing he had run the other way, it’s no big deal…
“Tobias,” he answered simply in a voice that he immediately thought was too timid, laying his insecurities out for all to see.

Tobias? Obi felt a grin take over his grimace.
"Toby!" Obi ran forward, stopping barely in time not to run Tobias over. Obi pranced around Toby, letting his tails fly in the air.
"How are you! I haven't seen you around! Tell me everything that happened after we left the pack." Obi was circling around Toby getting as close as he could without knocking over the poor Lyxxus.
"I heard your in the Republic now! Is it true?"

Tobias’s eyes widened a bit as Obi excitedly circled him. He had forgotten how hyper his brother could be. Well, he hadn’t been completely forgotten after all. That was a bit comforting. His tails wagged slowly behind him. He was much more subdued than Obi, most of the time. Obi’s words came quick and jumbled into Toby’s ears. He wasn’t quite sure where to start.
“Ummm…I’ve been okay, I guess.” His thoughts drifted back to his family and old home. “Things were still pretty normal when I left. I mean, except that you and Keely weren’t there anymore.” He tried to remember if anything important or unusual had happened, but he was drawing blanks. His four other brothers had all been trying to outdo each other and prove themselves as the superior siblings. And Toby had fallen behind at most every turn. He didn’t really think he needed to tell Obi about all that though…
He was getting a bit dizzy with Obi’s constant circles. He closed his eyes for a moment to regain his sense of stillness and balance before continuing. “Yes, Fyodor accepted me into the Republic. Keely has certainly done well for herself.” He smiled at the thought of his sister. He found it very hard to talk about her without smiling.

"I know." Obi said, finally laying down on his stomach and wagging his tails so that it hit the dry ground below him and made a little dust cloud. Obi sneezed a little.
"Keely chose a really good mate. I mean at first I was a little nervous about him but he's a good guy." Obi got up remembering Keely. He inched closer to Toby, looking back and forth.
"Hey, did you know? Keely's pregnant." Obi didn't seem to grasp the fact that this wasn't exactly a secret at this point. A small insect flew by Obi. Obi jumped up and grabbed at it. It flew away. Obi pouted slumping down on the ground, creating, yet another dust cloud. Obi's pelt now had a fine layer of dust over it.

Tobias was glad that his brother shared his opinion of Fyodor. He worried that some of their siblings might not be so willing to let someone else protect and love her. At least for now though it seemed he didn’t have to worry. Tobias was always pleased when everyone got along. There was something of a peacekeeper in his nature. He was relieved that Obi wasn’t circling anymore, and he took the opportunity to lie down as well.
Then Obi got up and inched closer as though about to tell him a great secret. Toby smiled at his words and was about to answer when Obi pounced after the bug. Still easily distracted I see… he thought with a smile. Once the bug had escaped he answered his brother, “Yes, I saw that. Actually,” he paused a moment in embarrassment, “I was a little upset with her at first. It could be very dangerous for someone her size to have pups. I’m worried about her, but it’s what she wants.” He stood up and tried to shake dust that had gathered on his own pelt.

Dangerous. Obi had never thought about that before. He had never heard much of a dangerous pregnency but now that he thought about it he got very worried. What if's started popping into his head like: What if something goes wrong? What if her body is hurt? What if the pups... Obi shook his head. No he couldn't go there he loved pups to much to even think about that. "No she'll be fine." Obi answered, calming himself down.
Obi turned to face his brother. Obi didn't remember his brother being so little, maybe it was just him. "So why are you here? Are you hunting?" Obi suddenly jumped up, excited about the idea of hunting.

Tobias let the subject of Keely drop. He also didn’t really want to dwell on possibilities. He had come to peace with the matter and now could only wait, hope for the best, and deal with the aftermath. Whatever it may be.
Tobias jumped a little when Obi jumped up again. Had Obi gotten bigger since he’s last seen him? He supposed it was possible. The only alternative would be that he had shrunk and that was a horrifying thought but thankfully impossible. “Hunting? Uh, no. I was just making myself more familiar with the pack territory. Getting the lay of the land. Yourself?”

Obi put his head to the side. Did Tobias not know Obi was Centurion? Obi shook his head. That was impossible, Keely would have told him or Fyodor or he would have figured it out himself.
"I was just finishing up my round." Obi's chest puffed out with pride. Obi soon had to release it do to the air being so hot, he had to breath. "Is it me or does the day get hotter the closer we get to night?"
Obi fell onto his back, his tails making a kind of broken fan. He looked up to Toby. He seemed to always have a thoughtful expression hidden on his face, no matter what it is. Obi smiled, yeah this was most definitely his brother.

As Obi puffed up Tobias felt deflated. His rounds. Right, Obi was Centursomething. A warrior for the pack. Which made him a high rank than bottom of the barrel Toby. He had tried to forget that part. Just another example of how he wasn’t measuring up to his brother. He had been hoping that that wouldn’t come up. At least Obi’s short attention span had changed the subject before he inquired as to Toby’s own rank.
He managed a somber smile and looked up at the summer sky. “The heat does have a way of building up around this time,” he said thoughtfully. He inhaled the scent of the lands around them. Their home. And the home of their growing family.
He turned to Obi with a tiny grin. Inferiority complex or not, this was still his brother, and that called for some good natured prying. “So Obi, Keely found a mate here. How about you? Got your eye on anyone special?”

Obi was taken back a little. He hadn't expected such a direct question. Obi rolled over onto his stomach and looked off into the distance.
"No. Not yet. No one can settle down this wolf." Obi joked, grinning up at Tobias, he jumped up and did a small play growl. But that question brought up more questions.
Keely seemed to have a great time with Fyodor and they were in love. But what about him? Would he ever find anyone who would be his mate?
"And you?" Obi said to Tobias. "Met anyone who makes your world go 'round."

Tobias had to admit that he was a tad relieved that Obi hadn’t found a mate yet either. At least some things were still equal between them. “No,” he replied, “no one special, yet.” Toby thought it would take someone pretty special to settle for him. He worried about it from time to time, and he was afraid his small size would complicate matters further. Who would want to settle for a shrimpy mate like him when they could have a strong mate like his brother? On second thought maybe he should try to get Obi to settle down as soon as possible… “Although I haven’t met many of the pack members here yet.”
And now Tobias was unsure of what to say. They had talked about their family, the weather, their sister and her pregnancy, their new pack, and touched on their personal lives. It was almost strange having a one on one conversation with Obi like this. Back home there was almost a guarantee that one of the other siblings would come along and interrupt. It had been rare to get one on one time with anyone unless you both tried really hard. This could be the longest he had ever talked to his brother alone. He reminded himself that things were different here and the thought made him smile. He looked out over the plains around him again. “It’s very peaceful here. And quiet.”
He turned back to Obi and figured he might as well turn the conversation to something his brother would probably have a lot to say about. “So, what’s good to eat around here? Anything different from back home?”

"Well, everything tastes the same," Obi started but then stopped and thought again. "Everything except the jackalope. Don't tell anyone but I think the jackalope is a little more dry then the ones at home but the mice here make up for it."
Obi's mouth started to water at the sound of a nice juicy mouse or some jackalope. Then, as if on que, a mouse skittered past Obi and started towards Toby.
Obi flattened his stomach onto the grass. He let out a low growl as he stalked slowly towards the mouse.
