[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,422,true] | [bg=FFFFFF] Somatra was having a blast! The wind simply blew right through the prairie and with it she could speed by at rates she had no idea she could do. Running through the prairie she flipped and twirled in delight, the wind dancing with her as it swirled dead vegetation into a little twister. What fun, she thought; if only I could learn to use it for attacks I would be more useful. She tried directing the wind into one concentrated rush as her passed away trainer had been trying to instruct her and directed it into the earth. The resulting slash in the ground was satisfying, but not entirely significant and much too easy to counter. With a sigh she continued on, inspected every crevice in sight for some prey.
As she stepped through a patch of particularly long yellowed grass, she disturbed a resting partridge. Eyes gleaming she watched the bird start to take off and quick as a whip she launched herself up in the air using the wind to help project her body, strong hindquarters pushing of from the soft ground. With a satisfying crunch she planted her fangs into the bird, snapping its neck. Landing back on the ground she lapped up the fresh warm blood and proceeded to devour the malnourished bird. Licking her chomps she cleaned off the rest of the blood and let off some triumphant howls as she headed back out for more investigation. Cocking her ears up she listened to the wind carry the haunting howls across the vast prairie. Waging her tail Somatra sniffed at the humid air and decided that the rain might hold off for a while yet.
Soon, however, the clouded sky started to weep, and what started as a refreshing fall of tiny droplets turned into what seemed like a roaring waterfall. Her fur soon became soaked, matted with dirt, debris, dead leaves and grass. Som trudged on while grumbling to herself over the misfortune as her white under belly soon became tarnished with brown mud. Turning her head up she growled at the annoying rain, fangs bared and gleaming at the invisible enemy. I swear, she thought, if I could slay you right now rain, I would.” Her walk had taken more of a slouch with her change in mood and her paws left thick imprints in the ground, quickly filling with water. What a bittersweet day!

It was wet, in fact, that was a much to simple word to describe the unease Kasmira was going through right now. What had begun as a casual stroll through the budding spring flowers of the prairie had resulted in a sudden downpour, soaking the bright purple lupus' fur and drenching her positivity. The young wolf walked as fast as she could, trying her best not to slip in the mud, seeking some form of shelter. Arg, she thought, if only I had practiced making trees more often! Using her earth abilities, she could have been able to grow a tree for shelter. However, she had only mastered growing grass, flowers, vines and small bushes. Suddenly her paw slipped, and she landed with a thud on the wet and slippery ground. "Oh, great!" she said sarcastically to herself, as she attempted to stand. After several moments of squirming, she made it up, the rain slowly washing away the brown gunk that stuck to her side. She shook herself off as best she could, though she couldn't help thinking: What good will it do, I'll just get more wet anyways! Kasmira trotted on, making sure to raise her paws off the ground with each step. Suddenly, she noticed a blue shape appearing in the distance. Another wolf? Maybe he or she knew where they could find some shelter. Kasmira trotted up to meet them, reminding herself that April showers brang May flowers. Hopefully.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,422,true] | [bg=FFFFFF] Across the rain drenched prairie Som was too busy grumbling and snapping over the misguided fate that was rain to hear the other wolf approach. It was only out of the corner of her eye that she saw something come at her. If there was one thing that Som hated, was being snuck up on as her powers serve little purpose once she was pinned down.
Snarling she flipped around to aggressively face what she believed to be her attacker, rain dripping off her snout as her amber eyes narrowed, glowering at the other wolf. Her pose was one of offense with her tail held high, fur bushed out as best as she could under the circumstances, and her muscles bunched together in preparation to pounce and defend herself. It was only in hindsight that she remembered seeing a purple pelt adorning the wolf, and she snapped out of her rage. Backing up she immediately cried out an apology, “Oh no, I’ve gone and done it again. I’m so sorry Kas, I really didn’t mean to charge at you like that.” She sheepishly stared at the ground, trying to find something else to say to make up for her poor excuse for a greeting. “So what brings you out on a day like this?”

Kasmira immediately backed away at first, feeling the need to put some distance between herself and Somatra first. It was quite scary coming face to face with Som angry, and she grinned sheepishly as she approached :"Sorry Som, I should have realized you'd have trouble seeing me with all this rain. And it's okay, it's good to know one of us is alert. You know me, always dreaming." she said to her blue friend. Right now, she thought, I'm dreaming of some sun! She thought about her question for a moment, wondering why herself. "Well, lately I've been thinking of some new stories to tell. I guess you could say I'm just looking for inspiration." Being a storyteller and a dreamer, Kasmira was always in the midst of either enjoying a friendly talk with another wolf, daydreaming up another story or just wandering around. Suddenly a bust of lighting lit the sky, followed closely by a loud rumble of thunder. The rain continued to pour down, and Kasmira looked up at the sky, apprehensive. They were out in the open, and she looked at Som: "I think we'd better find some shelter somewhere. Maybe a cave nearby?" She wasn't sure if there was one near here, but maybe Som would know. More lighting lit the sky, and Kasmira braced herself for the rumble. I hope there's shelter nearby, she thought. She was cold and wet, and felt vulnerable being out in the open so much. She hoped there wouldn't be flooding, since her earth powers had no effect with water everywhere...

Silverpole crept up to the mouse, twitching her tail like a cat. The wind was ruffling her fur, blowing the awkwardly spiked fringe around her nose straight into her face. She hated this place. Mile after mile of endlessly irritating grass, day after day of stubborn biting wind. She didn't deserve to be left behind! It wasn't fair! It wasn't fair! "It's not FAIR!" she snarled, then realized she had spoken aloud. The mouse sped away, and without thinking she flung herself forward. Close...close...she was gaining, and then she jumped too high and the stupid wind slammed her in the chest, snapping her wings open. For a moment she battled against the gale, flapping furiously as she swiped at her escaping prey, then it picked her up and threw her backwards against the grass, bowling her head over heels.
She continued to curse the damn wind as she picked grass seeds out of her ears and tried for the umpteenth time to digest the vegetation surrounding her. She was cold, starving, dehydrated, and fed up with the miserable weather. Surely anything could be better than this!

It was not unusual for Coneiron to be wandering about in the rain, after all, water was his element. He sprinted along, his dark fur camouflaging his bulky shape as he forced the kinetic energy of the droplets to increase in order to heat them them up and thereby evaporating the water before they hit his pelt. It was a rather handy technique he had learnt, and if used properly could do anything from keep him dry in the rain to scald his enemy if need be. He had been searching for some food, but it seemed the rain had washed away all small animal scents and their tracks. It was a few minutes later that Con stumbled across a recently devoured carcass surrounded by quickly fading paw prints. He sniffed around and concluded that there had been a wolf in the area recently. Catching a slight trace of the same scent he followed his nose across the wind blown prairie. Then, just as he was reaching the crest of a small inclination, he picked up a second smell. So now there are two of them he mused, wonder from what pack they are from. Suddenly lightning struck, the light reflecting brightly but briefly across the prairie. In the brief flash, he saw the vague outline of the two wolves, lupus by their larger shape and lack of other decorum. He could not have been sure, but it appeared that there may have been a third. Thunder struck, its booming crash echoing loudly in his ears. Turning his ears back he slinked across the wet ground, quickly catching up to the two. In his deep and commanding he voice he asked loudly over the rain and thunder, "What are you doing out in this?! Don't you know you are walking targets? Get moving, because it won't be long before you get turned to wolf jerky at this pace. I am Coneiron, a Guardian for the Children of Hvitur Ari. Who are you?" Lightning illuminated the sky once more, and in the close distance he saw a winged shape being tossed about before disappearing from sight. If it was a wolf it looked in distress and Con asked, "Did you wolves have another friend with you? There seems to be another wolf out there, but it looks like it is having trouble with the weather." He expanded the kinetic energy to envelop the other two, keeping the rain from getting them anymore wet, if it were possible. He chuckled with a small grin, "You two look like a pack of drowned rats."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,422,true] | [bg=FFFFFF]Som blinked away the water running down her face and stared up at the large older male lupus. His dark fur contrasted with his light highlights, making him an eerie vision to behold. However, she was immensely glad that he was from her pack and seemed to be able to control water, judging by the way he had manipulated the rain so that it did not touch her. The air around her had warmed up significantly at his arrival, and Som wondered what he had done. In any case, despite the fact she was still wet and his brute mannerism, she was no longer cold. Som yelled out, “Thanks, don’t know what you did but I appreciate it! My name is Somatra and I too am a Guardian for the Children of Hvitur Ari. Actually all three of us appear to be from the same pack. Nice to meet you.” She tried to look through the rain and see the other wolf Coneiron had been making reference to, but it was too dark to see. “As far as I know it is just us here, I can’t see anyone else, nor can I smell through this rain. Do you think we should go check?!” She wondered if perhaps this new comer knew of a place they could find shelter, but if there was another wolf out there, then it did seem fitting to go and see if they needed help. Thunder echoed on and off, serving to dull her hearing.
Well the least I can do is try to calm this wind down she thought. With that she tried to manipulate the air, coercing it to calm down. It was not with entire success that she got it to die down a little, but she did not possess enough training to fully extinguish the bitter cold howling it was creating.

Kasmira gazed across the wind and rainswept prairie, trying to get a closer look at the unknown wolf that the newcomer had mentioned. She was feeling decidedly better now that Coneiron had somehow managed to make a rain proof bubble around them. She spoke to Coneiron: "Hello, my name is Kasmira, but most just call me Kas. I am a storyteller from the Children. Thanks for keeping the rain off, I wish I could do that." She grinned up at the older wolf. He was very big, and carried an air of authority around him. Wouldn't want to make him angry! she chuckled to herself. "I don't know who this other wolf is, but we should go and see if he or she needs help or is hurt." Kasmira noticed the wind had died down a bit, and wondered if the storm was settling or if Som had done something. I hope this storm settles down soon, Kasmira thought as another fork of lightning lit the sky, since I have no desire to become "wolf jerky", as Coneiron put it.

Misty had been trying to hunt, but she hadn't been very sucessful, she had caught one jackalope and had buried somewhere behind her. But now the wind was starting to pick up as dark clouds spread across the sky. "Great" she muttered. She hated getting wet, it took her forever to dry her thick coat and it made her so heavy in the air she would most likely plummet if she didn't land soon.
The wind was getting stronger, too strong even for her powerful wings. It had started to pour across the prairie, soaking her wings and fur. She was getting heavy but she couldn't see a safe place to land through the downpour. Her wings beat frantically trying to stay in the air. She thought she heard voices nearby, but it could have been the wind playing tricks on her.
Lightning struck the air only a metre away from her, her eyes widened in terror. She couldn't hold it any longer, she closed her eyes and folded her wings and plummeted to the ground. She braced herself for the impact. She hit the ground, hard, she could feel the soft, wet grass beneath her. Every part of her felt broken and hurt, she painfully opened her eyes, everything was blurry and spinning. She could hear quiet voices nearby, but that was the last thing she heard before she blacked out.

Moonrose snorted in disgust at the pouring rain, her crimson fur flattened because of it. The white fur of her right foreleg was in clumps and she bent to lick it clean with her pink tongue. She lifted her head and scanned the area with her sapphire eyes, feeling the liquid plainly on the scar over her left orb. She continued to walk, going on with her patrol, something she did every day.
Being a Guardian, it was the three tailed Lyxxus's job to make sure the pack was protected, and she was desperate to prove herself to Reynard that she was worthy of a First Guardian position. She was a fighter and was the second in command in her previous pack. It was strange being in the position she was, lower in rank than normal. However, she did not complain. She merely did as she was meant to do in hopes of getting promoted.
Moonrose was aware of the lightning and thunder overhead, but she ignored it. Granted, it was dangerous and she began thinking if any of the Keiyou or bird Myou were out flying. They shouldn't be and the Guardian decided to tell them to return to the dens if she found any of them out and about.
No scent came to her nose because of the rain and she was finding it hard to see, even though her vision was exceptional, but her hearing was completely fine. She certainly heard the loud crash of a heavy body hitting the ground. She came to a halt and spotted someone lying in the field. She bolted to the wolf without any hesitation, approaching to find her unconscious.
She noticed the she-wolf's wing muscles twitching slightly and assumed she must have been too close to that strike of lightning that just appeared before Moonrose heard the crash. The Guardian leaned down and grasped her scruff between her teeth, proceeding to drag her towards the forest, where she was sure they'd be safe until the storm passed.
The wolf was much heavier than Moonrose was, so that posed a bit of a problem, but she managed to take her into the shelter of a tree with a hole under the roots. She positioned the wolf comfortably and laid beside her head, keeping her own held high as to watch for any predators. She knew better than to venture out again, especially when she found this wolf. She had the Children's scent on her and she would wait until she woke and for the storm to pass.
"Sleep well, my friend."

Con's eyes flicked back to the sky, glowing bright aqua with every flash. It was not uncommon for him to be out and about in lightning, but with so little cover, even experience could not save a wolf from death. He spoke to the younger wolves in a serious voice to try to communicate the seriousness of the situation, "So there was no one else with you? Well it would be best if you two headed for the covers of the trees, I'll head out and take a look.Stick together and find the most sheltered spot you can." With one last glance to commit them to memory he slinked off, keeping low to the ground. Frowning slightly, he tried to look through the curtain of rain, using the echoing from the particles to locate shapes and guide him to the other wolves. The electricity in the air was like a catalyst to his adrenaline, and it gave him a rush to be in a dangerous situation. The pouring rain did much to improve this sensation and he smiled a slightly twisted grin that would have appeared quite eerie to others. He picked the pace up as his bulky shape moved rapidly, slicing through the water that could not reach him through his field of kinetic energy. Up ahead he saw a large old tree, it's gnarly roots forming a small cavernous opening. Sniffing through the puddles he picked up a vague trace of a scent and eyed the tracks covering the ground. It looked as though something had been dragged across the ground recently, but what could it have been? There was no trace of blood and the rain had washed away enough of the tracks for Con to not be able to make out if it was two wolves, or a predator and a winged prey. His Guardian senses kicked on high alert, if it had been the winged wolf they may have been found by another animal. Time was precious, but cautions needed to be followed. Surprising the other animal may lead the wolf's death faster. Cocking his ears forward he approached the small den with every muscle of his being tensed. His narrowed eyes glowed in a ghostly fashion and he let out a deep echoing growl of warning, white fangs gleaming. In his most commanding voice he stated, "My name is Coneiron and I am a Guardian for the Children. Please voice yourself, as a lack of response will warrant undesirable actions on my part." He hoped that however was inside had heard and had enough sense to respond, if the winged wolf was from his pack it was his duty to protect them, and so he would.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,422,true] | [bg=FFFFFF] Somatra nodded to acknowledge Con and responded, "Alright then, if you will be ok." She thought that he was probably experienced enough to look after himself and the best way to help was probably to do as he said and head for shelter.
As Con left she was once again pelted with cold rain, her fur becoming soaked all over again. The thought of getting out of the rain was highly appealing, and she did not hesitate to follow the idea. Turning to Kas she said, "We should do what he says, lets head out, I am sure I saw some boulders and trees up ahead." She bounded off in a flash, hoping that Kas was following. She could make out the outline of some large maples in the near distance and quickly approached them, thunder vibrating off the hills.
There was a small crevice in between two large boulders and she managed to squeeze in. The inside was very dark, but al least it was dry. Suddenly through the darkness came a squeal and two small horns rammed into her side. With a loud yelp she jumped, her head slamming into the ceiling. With a dull roar she faded in and out of consciousness. Stars lined her eyes and she desperately tried to back out, the other animal butting into her side again.
Once into the open the animal darted rapidly out of the small crevice, and thought the haze of the rain she saw it was a jackalope. In anger she growled and pounced on the smaller animal, sinking her teeth into it's flesh. Well at least now we will have a snack while we hide out. With that she squeezed back through the hole, her head vibrating in pain. Sighing, she plunked herself down to gnaw at her prey while the storm raged on waiting to see if Kas was going to join her.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/5klG.jpeg]Kas watched the larger and more experienced Con leave them, the rain coming back full force now that his protective bubble was gone. Pity, she thought to herself, she was just beginning to dry! She hoped he'd be okay, but thought it odd to advise him to be careful: He might take offense. She turned to see her friend leaving, and glad that Som would lead the way, she held her head and tail high, happy that shelter would soon be found.
Her positive energy back, her bright green eyes followed Som's blue form, making sure not to lose her from sight. She trotted after Somatra, almost joyfully, then stopped: She'd look pretty weird if she was happy with weather like this. Smiling to herself, she noticed Som going in a crack between two rocks.
Suddenly, she heard a squeal and a bang from the crevice Som had crawled in to, and she tensed, ears flat, fur on end, tail straight, teeth bared. Growling, her claws dug gashes into the wet earth as a jackalope, followed by a severely peeved Somatra came bursting out. Relieved, she relaxed and watched Som pounce on the smaller animal and go back in the crevice.
Kas trotted to the entrance, announcing herself before she went in: "Hey, it's Kas. Coming in..." She squeezed through without much difficulty, lying down beside Somatra. She could barely make out Somatra, who seemed to be gnawing at her new found snack. She put her head on her white paws, but let her eyes stay wide open, watching the rain through the opening.
"So, is your head okay? I heard quite a bang from out there ." Unfortunately, she couldn't keep the small smile and chuckle from escaping her, and she regarded Som with one eye, the other focused on the thunder and lightning flashes she could see and hear in the sky.

Mistylight painfully opened her eyes to find herself in a hole underground out of the storm. She jumped up quickly every muscle and bone in her body screaming in pain. She panicked not knowing where she was, what had happened or how she got here. She was not the best at seeing in the dark but she could just make out the form of a small wolf beside her who smelled of the children. She calmed down and noticed that her fur and wings were damp and muddy, adding even more weight to her already wet, long, silky, silver fur. Her left wing burned and she noticed that her white feathers were black and singed in all around. Then it dawned on her, she had been struck by lightning, that was why she had fallen and this wolf whoever she was, had dragged her to this hole causing her fur to get all muddy. She sighed, at least she was out of the rain.
Mistylight turned to the wolf, seeing her slitted sapphire eyes glow in the dim light. "Who are you? And thank you so much for saving me" she whispered with gratitude. Just then she heard someone outside and another scent came to her, though very faint but it also smelled of the children. He demanded to know who was in the hole and she answered her voice straining to be heard over the thunder clap. "I am Mistylight, the newest member of the children" her voice was filled with pain as her body ached from her fall. She looked to the wolf beside her wondering if she was going to say anything or if she should take the lead.

The Guardian wasn't at all surprised. It would be a normal reaction for any wolf who had passed out after being struck by lightning and woke up in a different place. She watched the she-wolf panic for a few minutes before turning to her, calming down in a sense. The Lyxxus smiled some, amused by her reaction. It was almost funny.
She listened to her first sentence, then replied, "My name is Moonrose. I'm a Guardian of the Children. You were struck by lightning, my friend. Only a stupid wolf would have left you out there. Besides, it's my job to protect the members of this pack." She caught another scent through the rain, then heard the voice of a male, definitely older than the two of them. She learned not only the male's name and rank, but of the wolf she had saved as well.
Moonrose stood and walked to the entrance, revealing herself and stepping under the shade of the branches. She held no fear. If this wolf was from the Children, then there was no need to do so. "No need to worry, Coneiron. My name is Moonrose. I am a Guardian as well. I simply brought Mistylight to shelter before she was killed." She turned around and beckoned with her tails. "Whether you want to or not, come inside. Only a fool would remain out in this storm."
The young wolf walked back into the safety of the hole under the tree, pausing to glance back and see if he was following her.
